no other sitcom has ever caught me off guard like the end to this season. S1 builds up that lily and marshal are a power couple to beat. Then in the last episode she completely leaves marshal. It’s heartbreaking. this show is way more emotionally taxing than friends or TBBT because himym likes to deal with real issues and a lot of the time when they do they will have realistic sad scenes with no comedy. that is the reason i love how i met your mother

I agree that HIMYM handles way more serious subjects than both Friends and TBBT. Especially in later seasons. But regarding surprising break-ups, nothing beats the Rachel and Ross break-up episode for me. It's just the most intense break up ever.
@jinxysaberk3 ай бұрын
@@sorkaem yeah but for me that one is also caused by really stupid circumstances that just make it uncomfortable to watch for me. It’s iconic having the other characters in the other room 100% hilarious but the ross rachel stuff bothers me

Damn that ending was so sad, first we see all the happiness with Ted and Robin finally being together and then Ted comes home and sees Marshall there sitting in the rain with Lily’s ring in hand, it’s really heartbreaking.

@Menno01833 ай бұрын
@@Sorozatfuggoseg why should he interfere? It’s something between Marshall and Lily + no one saw it coming that Lily would really go and leave him like that so what exactly could Ted have done? Ted even had a long talk with Lily about it when she had the flat tire, trying his best to see the situation from both her and Marshall’s perspective. I feel like what you’re saying is kinda unreasonable, you might not like Ted so that’s why you’re nitpicking on him now but let’s be honest in this situation there was nothing he could’ve done to prevent this from happening.

Personally, I liked Ted a lot more as the seasons went on. It becomes more of an ensemble-show instead of being just about him and his search for love. All the other main characters get more time to shine and it suits Ted's character to not always be in the center of everything. So, Season 1 Ted is also a bit iffy for me but in later seasons he gets better, at least in my opinion. It is great to see you already this emotionally invested because believe me, there is so much more to come with this show and I am so excited for you to get there! keep these reactions coming, they're really great!☺

6:55 the only reason I know that book is because of Serendipity. It tells the story of Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza, two young lovers separated by circumstance. Set in a Caribbean port city against the backdrop of a cholera epidemic, the novel spans decades as Florentino patiently awaits Fermina's love, while she marries another man.

In the love solutions episode in this reaction, first of all I find it interesting that the new owner says his name is Bob, when for those of us who grew up watching Disney Channel, you'll know that he plays Bob Duncan on good luck Charlie a few years later, I just find it funny they have the same first name. Second of all, will never know for sure if the woman Ted got matched with really was the mother or if she was just someone, who had similar wants and interests. I find it really interesting, that even all the way back in season one, whether intentionally or unintentionally, the writers are showing us that Ted's perfect woman really does exist, write down to wanting two kids and playing bass guitar, sorry slight spoiler there.. I just love how the show plays with your expectations even all the way in season one. Unfortunately for Ted, for those of us who have already seen the show, know that they're always in the wrong place at the wrong time, often crossing paths without even realising it. For example when he's single she is in a relationship or vice versa, or she just lives in a different part of the city. Although the mothers identity remains a mystery throughout the entirety of the show, due to them not casting someone until the final season, I still find it interesting how much buildup they give her, it's very difficult to find someone who lives up to Ted's high standards or to match the big buildup the show gives her, but when you finally meet the mother eight seasons from now, I think you'll be very happy with who she turns out to be.

Robin is so damn right here. Robin yes, she´s afraid of commitment, but she has her own goals and has so many opportunities and she doesn't want to jeopardize her career or her future. And she WANTS Ted in her life. Ted is basically forcing her to take a decision she's nor prepared to because she want to accomplish herself first. Timing is a bitch.

Fucking love this series, specially the end of this season!! 1. I always think why Lily didn't do both (getting married & doing the art fellowship). I understand getting married is a big deal & people freak out, but that would've been a solution. 2. I still don't like Ted & Robin together. She clearly wants something casual & you clearly want something serious. This relationship is meant to break from the first day.

22:42 Your point about him pushing and being co-dependant is an actual character flaw that he slowly has to face up to. A lot of the character arcs are slow burns with satisfying payoffs.

I'm a lot like Robin. I always needed time to process things, to think, to be sure I wanted the relationship. Unfortunately I also stumbled upon guys like Ted a couple of times, guys who were ready to just jump head first into it and couldn't grasp the idea of easing into it or waiting to see how it progresses organically. I just think the two types are too much of a clash and it rarely works.

I’m still so mad at Lily for what she did. She used that painting fellowship stuff as a total cop out and run away from something really good. Yes marriage is a big step but it wouldn’t have been any different really than having already spent 9 years with a person. The only difference is the title of being married. But running away and hurting the one you love after 9 long years just because you’re scared to get married is cowardly and selfish. Marshall didn’t deserve that. Also you can’t blame Ted for how he feels about Robin. At least he was consistent about it. Yeah he went on dates and had a thing with Victoria but that was because Robin had made it clear she wasn’t interested in getting into a relationship and marriage or having kids. But she was so annoyingly hot and cold. She doesn’t want any of that stuff but she mopes around harboring feelings for Ted and even going so far as to try and sabotage Ted and Victoria’s relationship, but the minute he tries to pursue her she clams up again. She is so aggravatingly inconsistent with her feelings. Women are exhausting 😂

I really appreciate your take on Lily leaving. So many people shit talk her for going when Marshall is the one that gave the ultimatum. I also hate the idea that because you meet the love of your life as a teenager, your life ends there, and you can never do anything without your partners approval from then on. I'm so so happy you get why she had to go. Ted sucks when it comes to Robin 😫. After their talk in the van, he should've never pursued her again. She told him she doesn't want kids. He does want kids. That means in order to be together, one of them would have to cave and I don't think Ted would.
