She was out in the 70s. She’s been with her now wife, Jane, since 1971. This intevrriew is 1972. I don’t think she was publicly out until a few years after this. But I would assume he and others in the industry probably knew that about her and that’s why he did that dig. Men like him don’t like women like her. I grew up around a lot of men like him (fundamental baptist- think Duggar family type) and any woman that presented in any masculine way, was deemed useless. So a woman wearing pants, not being girly, not complying or being submissive, etc. kinda an inside thing to assume they aren’t straight or that they need some “conversion”

How do you know that he wasn´t serious? Many men are serious about owning their wife. And it´s funny how you as a man think that she walked off a bit easily. When the reality is that she walked off because of a misogynistic comment that is offensive and violent to half of the people in the world, while men keeps being offended and hysterical about not getting their way and that they have to accept that women are humans too with equal rights.

He seems a weird guy altogether. Quite possibly his wife was just as weird, though. (I used to have a high school gym teacher with a haircut and build like that. He was convinced that all the underage girls were panting over him and said so openly, which always seemed pretty creepy, as well as deluded, to me. Nothing to do with this “Chad”, I suppose, but I can’t help the association.)
