I love your end of the video talking about your mom. I'm sure most of us saw your mom on your videos and she seems so sweet and a hardworking. Oh she's gorgeous as well! But I definitely I understand what you mean because you moving to u.s opens up a lot of opportunities for you. Its quite hard because your away from your friends and family so you get homesick but at the same time you want to strive for yourself. No matter what though, we your subbies, will always be here and supporting you. You're one of the strongest, self driven, hard working woman I know (online/IRL) and you're definitely an inspiration to most of us. We're so proud of you and how far you've come. Good luck Lilia💕 wishing you all the best.

I understand your feeling way too much. I’m from Argentina and I went to university in Italy. I fell in love with the country and with Europe in general. Of course I wanted my family and friends with me, but I just wanted to stay there forever. This year I finished university and came back to Argentina. I’ve always been a depressed person but never like when I came back here. Also I developed more anxiety than ever before. Luckily with the help of the people I love and doctors and psychologists I am much better, but I still know that living abroad helped me so much and I’d love to go back and live there. If you feel it in your gut, do everything you can to make it come true. I had that same feeling, didn’t follow it and it was horrible. Now is even harder to go back since my parents want me to be completely mentally healthy to do anything abroad (as if perfect mental health exists) but I still know they are just worried. Follow your dreams! You seem so independent and strong, I’m sure you’ll get through it! You actually inspire me to get stronger and follow my dreams too, no matter where they’ll take me!

Hi Lilia! I really relate to what you were saying at the end of your vlog. I moved from my home country 8 years ago when I was 19. Being an immigrant has always been bitter sweet for me. I do miss my country and my family yet I love my life in the U.S. It is hard to be far away from your loved ones, but long distances don't mean that you will grow apart from your friends and family back home. When I go home, every moments get really intense and beautiful because I know how precious and rare they are. I am closer to my family and friends than ever before. And on top of that I get the chance to discover another culture and build a second home in my new country. It gets really good once you make close friends. Courage and good luck with all your projects!

Oh, Lilia the whole story you have told in this video have changed so much in my psycho, since I am at my 4th year in the university, and I even do not know what I am going to do with my life next, I was afraid to scrutinize something new, you have been my inspiration since I have known you and that was I guess 2 years ago, but after your inoculative speeches you start to be the sole inspiration and I feel like everything will be great with my life, as I have faith, ambition and confidence, which are the most important things to possess in a life journey. Thank you for your videos, for sharing and trusting your personal life to those who really are in need of it, thank you for making more and more people rely on their own abilities and just go ahead to do the staff they are in love with! ))))

Girl I know exactly what you mean !! I recently moved to Abu Dhabi/UAE from Canada. My mom was also an immigrant to Canada, originally from Guatemala. She moved without knowing the language and with no support. Moving to a new country has made me appreciate the sacrifices of all immigrant parents. Even though I moved to UAE with a job already in place, it's still scary and I find myself feeling very lonely at times. I totally understand the feelings you're going through !! xoxo

It's weird to hear your thoughts about the experience abroad because i'm leaving in the exact same feeling but with Groningen. I moved from Italy to The Netherlands to study abroad for 1 semester that actually became 1 year and before going back home for the holidays i was facing a phase where i knew that my home town is not my place anymore but at the same time i was missing my old friends and my old life. Going back for Christmas has been a huge help because i guess sometimes you need to see your family and friends, just to feel a little bit more confident with yourself and with the journey that we are facing. It was the first time that i was moving abroad, on my own, in a country without my home language. Now that my journey is almost done i know that i will have to finish my degree but then it will be the beginning of a new chapter, like the one that i'm living right now. I just wanted to tell you this, it was a bit weird to hear my exact thought from a mouth of a different person ahahah. I hope that now you're feeling a bit better and always remember that there's always somebody mentally with you. xx Mariagiulia

Lilly the way you are feeling is totally ok. Make a plan, decide what makes you happy and go for it. If that plan doesn't work move to the next. I promise it will work out in the end. You are just laying the foundation for your future. Stay encouraged. I was a mom at 17, got my degree in my late thirties because I had to raise my daughter. I often felt like a failure but today at 50 I run my own small business and my daughter at 33 is doing very well also. Parents are happy when their children are happy. 💞💕

I have been living in France for 4yrs now and my family is back home in the Seychelles! 😢 recently started finally down because I feel like nobody knows the real me and those who do are not here. And somehow you put words on what I was feeling. In someway it has helped. I’m glad you talked about it 💜 good luck for exams !

Hi Lilia ! I can totally relate to your skin concerns, so let me give you a few tips. 1) For cleansing, I use a gentle non foaming cleanser... such as the Kiehl's one for sensitive skin. It changed the whole game for me. I didn't like it at first because I did not fell like my skin was clean enough. But it doesn't dehydrate it. Which is what you want to avoid! 2) I layer moisturizers. I always prefered creamy, thick products, but they tend to sit on the skin. I have a hydrating lotion that I use morning and night and a serum that I use at night, both under a thick product that will seal it in. Don't shy away from oils, they're really good at locking the moisture in and antiaging. 3) Hyaluronic Acid everything. A must for dehydrated skin. PS: I don't like gel type products. I feel like they just give you a little something that evaporates right away because it doesn't have the ability to seal the ingredients in. I have acne prone skin. Cystic acne and all that. Dehydration is my worst enemy and gel types are no allies of mine in this fight. They just do nothing for me ._.

I have the same problem re: skin! I would recommend hylauronic acid, I know The Ordinary has an affordable option, and my favorite (I think worth the price) is SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 gel after washing your face and before applying moisturizer-- try a richer one for fall/winter. As my dermatologist told me, I would avoid washing your skin in the morning w/ cleanser, just rinse it with warm water and pat dry-- it's not necessary if you clean your skin before bed to use cleanser in the morning and will just strip it dry. And maybe exfoliate twice a week! Also be sure to avoid super hot showers, and blasting the heater too high, and try using a humidifier which will make the air in your home less dry! Best of luck xx

Hi Lilia! A few months ago I suddenly had very bad acne, probably due to physical & emotional stress and lack of sleep. What saved my skin was ORGANIC ROSE WATER, you just apply it with a cotton pad multiple times a day or in the morning and at night. Other than that, sleep and drinking water really do help, but I know how hard that can be as a student... I hope it gets better but obviously you are beautiful and amazing no matter what

Honestly, I get what it feels like having these feeling that you need to do something and I really do think that you should follow your intuition. You are a very successful woman and deserve to get the most out of your life and experiences. Do what you feel and think will be the best for you emotionally and physically. Don't worry about having the people you love far away from you. My sister moved to the US( btw we are from Brazil) 5 years ago when she was 18 for university and she's been there since then. I haven't seen her in 3 years and it really kills me not having her around but whenever I talk to her and see she is happy with her job and life it's all worth it. I miss having her around but her happiness and success comes first as it should. You do you, girl. Love your videos and the energy that you have and give out to the world. Love ya

I moved from Portugal to study in the Netherlands and I regularly feel alone as well, not because of lack of people but because how attached I am to my old friends and I cannot fit in the new routine and feel comfortable being myself around new and different people. Hello Lilia! I can relate to parts of your last story and I haven’t found someone who felt the same until you. I definitely have similar feelings right now as I’m preparing for my own exchange studies this coming spring. One of the many reasons for my move was to discover what I really felt for my home country and if I saw myself living the rest of my life here. I do, of course, am grateful for my life here, for having a decent environment to live and study. But there’s just nothing much to keep me rooted here and growing up, there were so many instances I felt foreign despite having lived here all my life. Having said that, I don’t mean that I thought the grass is always greener on the other side. I just hope that my experiences abroad for the better part of the year will help me decipher my mixed feelings and provide some sort of closure and future direction. My mom too, moved for a better life and knowing that she’s done that before and how difficult it was for her, made me realised that you can make things work if you really wanted to. I think part of it is about taking things in our stride and it’s okay to have ambitions while not knowing where you’re headed for. Life takes us by surprise at every turn and hopefully it’ll all work out for you! I’m now spending the last month before I’m due for exchange and I have so many burning questions that I don’t have concrete answers to. I think I will have some inkling of it when I’m abroad next year. Just wanted to share this, just so you know you’re not alone in feeling this way. P.S. I have exams on the 5th and 7th too. All the best!

You're such an inspiring person, I'll definitely start studying after the video. I can absolutely understand how you don't feel like going back to the Netherlands. I was born in Hungary and I never felt like home there. I was planning to start a new life in an English-speaking country after finishing my bsc, then an opportunity came to move to Germany. After 2 months of learning the language I moved. The first 2 years were hell, I was so depressed, but somehow I managed and worked really hard and started msc last year. After that everything turned around and now I can tell that I found my place. I have amazing opportunities, and people really respect all the work I put into the transition. Being far from the family and friends is never easy, but they understand that it's better for me here. However you decide I'm pretty sure you'll make the best out of it! And some skin-tips from someone who has paper as skin: coconut oil can cause breakouts for some people. You should try jojoba, argan or rosehip oil. My skin is very allergic and dry and they do wonders, I just layer them over the moisturizer day and night. I also purchased Cosrx aha 7 whitehead power liquid that I use 2-3 times a week that gets rid of the flakiness and it's pretty inexpensive ;)

I loved the curly-furry teddy-bear coat you tried on early in the video, when shopping w/your friend. I also, glad you got the blue velvet blazer and I thought it looked awesome with the black outfit. As for your dry skin ... Aveeno Positively Radiant products, you can get at CVS, Walgreens, Target, any store. It is a very good brand for dry scaly skin, it almost looked like you had eczema, which is caused by stress, which you currently have with your class load requirements these next two weeks and the pressure to keep up your grades and your feelings of loneliness that you talk about at the end of your vlog. This is all completely normal and really comes up (emotionally) during this holiday period. You are doing the right thing to talk about it. I don't think you have to worry one bit about how you are going to make your future plans happen. I remember when you wanted to take the one-week study abroad which you did, and then you wanted to do the semester abroad, which you did, and then you wanted to do the one-year abroad - which you are now doing! So you do not have to spend any time worrying about that because when the time is right, you will make it happen. Good luck on your studies these next few weeks. I have been there...many of us have, you will do absolutely great! Thanks for your wonderful vlog today. :)

Your feelings about not wanting to go back to the Netherlands and feeling like no-one really knows you is exactly how I feel a lot. I moved around constantly when I was growing up and now as I student I keep having to move to different countries as part of my degree. It's honestly one of the hardest things to do by yourself and a lot of people don't realise how daunting and psychologically difficult it is.That being said, I truly feel that if you don't feel at home somewhere you should move to where you feel right. I don't feel in the right place where I am now, but I know where I do and that's where I'm aiming for. This is such a long comment, but I just wanted to say that it's such a normal feeling you're having and it's totally okay and a lot of us are in the same boat!

You are so sweet and kind, and very passionate as well. Good luck on your exams and work hard, but also find a balance with having peace and rest. You deserve a good break and time to rest, do not be too hard on yourself. Love your videos, and everything you put into them is fun to watch and hear about, so keep doing you girl!

This is my first comment to you. I've watched your videos for a year. Although I'm just a girl living in small city of island country, you expanded my world. You always give me great motivation. I wanna be like you. I also want to go abroad but it's not easy... I might be able to understand what you're feeling just a little bit. Anyway, I support you whatever happens, and love you. xx

This cold/dry DC weather is no joke, trust me! I've lived here since I was a child and still find myself shocked at my skin's reaction each year. Anyways, I would highly recommend Josie Maran's face butter. Some say it makes their face feel greasy but I disagree. It moisturizes my face so well and has become my sole moisturizer for this season. It's quite pricey but so worth it! Good luck!!!

I've suffered a lot from acne ever since the early teens and up until now (I'm 24). And the colder it gets, the worse it got and I got really dry patches as well. And thinking it was because of oily/combination skin I always used products for that (exfoliating a lot etc). I recently switched my whole skin care routine to extra hydrating products, because I found that hydration helps a lot with both my acne and the dry patches. The whole hydration-range from Avené really saved my life (along with drinking a f*** ton of water of course). And I find that water dry out my skin as well, so I use coconut oil after every shower as well. Hope you figure it out soon - cause it can really decreases ones self-confidence by a lot.

Dear Lilya, i wanna thank you for opening to us. I really admire you for your work till now, all the journey till DC. You have alot of courage to make such big decisions. I moved recently in switzerland, and i got customed with my worklife and routine here, but i feel that you make soo hard friends here( like real ones) and i always have that empty space somehow. Aren't you afraid you will be so too? Although congratulations for everything you achieved! Chapeau! Kisses :)

Hi, when you were talking about the whole immigrating to either USA, Paris Or London. I felt where you were coming from the whole 'what's keeping me here? / do I belong here?'. These are feelings I felt at my new university, failure with securing jobs and other things that come with life. It was helpful to hear it from another female talk about this in a way its okay to not know where your gonna end up, and how I'm going to get there. I'm myslef thinking about learning in another country and work is my main pain too. Keep up with the great content, see ya in 2 weeks.

Hey girlie, I've lived in London the past three years and it is the best city to be in, but because it's so big it can also feel super lonely sometimes. It's definitely a good place though, however still ridiculously expensive. Just moved back to Groningen to do my law degree and after that I'll see where life takes me. I feel like I don't belong anywhere in a sense that - after a while - I just get bored and need to be somewhere else. I don't know if you feel that way but I'm sure that, whatever you do, you'll do great things.

Hey, Lilia! I can relate to your current situation about moving back to the Netherlands. I moved this summer also to a different country to do my bachelors, and at one point, it is hard, and I miss my friends from my home country, as well as my family, although I have made many new friends here, I still miss my old ones, who have known me for ages. On the other note, I'm not considering going back home, after I'll finish my degree abroad, cause I feel the same as you, there's nothing holding me back there, I mean yes, friends and family, but I feel like in this situation I need to be a bit selfish, and think about a place, where I'd be genuinely happy. But anyways, love you girl, you're such a motivation and keep going!!!

I can totally relate- I'm French but have been living in the US for a few years now and I love it here. Home will always be Paris but, alike you, I don't see opportunities for me there so I'm staying in the United States for now (and hopefully for the years to come). I think you'd love London! I did my undergraduate degree there (now in grad school) and absolutely adored the city; I see myself moving back there eventually! And don't let the language barrier stop you from moving to Paris if that's where you want to go. I have a few non-French friends who live there and work for international companies like L'Oréal where you're not necessarily required to speak French, depending on your position. Follow your dreams, girl! And explore while you're young, don't settle too quickly! If you want to chat some more, send me a message! I'm happy to share my experience with you, if that's any help! Sending you love from Seattle, WA

Hey Lily, I have always struggled with dry skin and since some months am having oily skin in the T-zone, so my face is a mess. I recommend using the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream from Clinique on the dry patches and never coconut oil, as it is too heavy for the skin and therefore clogs your pores. Also, don't exfoliate more, it will make the skin even drier. For the oily parts I would keep on exfoliating gently but I still haven't found a great solution. I hope this helps you!

Coconut oil is comedogenic, try jojoba oil instead! Although I personally prefer rosehip oil or sth with Vit E. I suggest layering your skincare: use a hyaluronic acid serum, then a lightweight moisturiser that you know doesnt break you out and then an oil (or you can mix some oil drops in your moisturiser)! Also, and I know this is tough, try to remove your makeup when you're home immediately and then begin moisturizing (even better, because u have plenty of time for each product to sink in). A toner might help too (clarins does a great one with chamomile, or perhaps u can try sth as simple as rosewater)! And definitely exfoliate, a mild lactic acid based exfoliator would be ideal. On another note, I'm addicted to your vlogs, u kick ass!
@Lilylikecom
@Lilylikecom 7 жыл бұрын
no, virgin coconot oil is actually non-comedogenic! Only processed coconut oil is comedogenic. Hyaluronic acid is already something that I use, but I didn't that much of a difference. I prefer BHA & AHA for my skin. For toner I don't really like Clarins, because it contains more agressive ingredients. Thanks for the tips tho!
@Tina_Anton
@Tina_Anton 7 жыл бұрын
If you use a lot of AHA's and BHA's perhaps you're over-exfoliating (that's why I mentioned lactic acid, which is a more moisturising AHA than others), so you need to put moisture back into your skin, and hyaluronic acid helps with that, especially since u can find it mostly in serum form. Also, the chamomile toner I mentioned is formulated without alcohol and it's why I suggested it (because most toners from most brands tend to be aggravating, I have sensitive, acne-prone skin myself, so I try to look for more soothing fomulas). I ran a beauty blog and a beauty site for years. Hope your skin comes to!

I have the same type of skin! I would also wonder how the hell I could have dry patches with my acne prone skin. It would always start in the cold and dry weather. Its actually a microbacteria that appears dry, but kinda eats the grease on your face. A pharmacist actually explained it to me (and I am in med school so its no joke :) ) Hope that makes sense, haha. Just remember to not put greasy things on your face, cause that will excacerbate it! Keep hydrating a lot, but with products meant for greasy skin, and clean and wash your face every night. The patches should go away. I havent had them anymore. Remember that you still have the greasy/acne prone skin type. Hope this helps!
