Thank you! I can tell you that the plan for this year is for a similar video of RIAT and of course the second episode of our annual documentary in December. That aside, plenty of short clips throughout the year. Sadly, this will probably be our last full-length report from an Asian airshow in the foreseeable future. Thanks for your support!

Bravo Jupiter Indonesia! Using manual aircrafts to manueaver and perform acribatic shows are not easy...this is another level and at it's own class.
@ThisisFlight4 жыл бұрын
The vast majority of aerobatic teams fly manual (ie. non-fly-by-wire) aircraft, from turbo-trainer teams like the PC-7 TEAM to jet teams like the Red Arrows, so JAT are in no way unique in that regard. Actually, manual aircraft are often considered easier for formation aerobatics and allow for tighter and sharper manoeuvres, which is why so many manoeuvres like the rollbacks are never, or rarely, attempted by teams with fly-by-wire aircraft. I do like JAT, but it's far from a sophisticated display, and I see them fly mistakes more often than any other team I've witnessed. In its own class? Certainly not.

Makes me so want to go Lima 2019. Great footage. Btw, are the same display done both days for public or?
@ThisisFlight6 жыл бұрын
The trade days are not the same (there is only 2 hours of flying per trade day, and not all the acts can fit in to that time). The public days have 4 hours, so probably every act at the show will fly on each of the public days and some of them might fly twice. However, there may be some small differences. In 2017, on the first public day the Jupiter Aerobatic Team did not fly a full show, but there was a special one-off formation of the Jupiters and Black Eagles. On the second public day, there was no special formation, but the Jupiters did a full show instead and the RMAF F/A-18 did an unannounced sunset show too. My advice is go for both days, or better still, the whole week - LIMA is too good to go on only one day. You'll get all the info you need if you read my guide to LIMA here: thisisflight.net/airshow-guides/guide-to-lima/

Great Job for the documentary! Although, there's a lot of overexposed footage.
@ThisisFlight7 жыл бұрын
Yes there is, especially at the start. That's because we were looking directly into the sun at sunrise, and it was quite literally my first time EVER using a proper camcorder. Those two things combined mean that all the opening ceremony footage is pretty horrible.
@Aviatorspot7 жыл бұрын
Awesome LIMA 2017 docu! What camcorder you are using for filming at the airshow and inside the cockpit? You should come to the Avalon Airshow 2019 in Melbourne Australia to film a docu next time.
@ThisisFlight7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This was filmed on a Sony AX-53. Cockpit footage was on a GoPro - it's not my footage. I'd love to come to Avalon but I'll have moved to the UK by then, and it'll be rather a long way. Hopefully some time

Largest in Southeast Asia? Why then, does the Singapore Airshow says it's Asia's biggest?
@ThisisFlight7 жыл бұрын
"Largest event of its kind" LIMA is the largest aerospace AND maritime exhibition in the region. Singapore Airshow is aerospace only.
@Dorimeme1877 жыл бұрын
So which event is bigger?
@ThisisFlight7 жыл бұрын
The Singapore Airshow is probably the most important, and it's certainly the event where the most business takes place. However, almost every major show seems to claim to be the largest - Aero India also say they are Asia's largest airshow, whereas in reality they wouldn't even rank in the top 3 on most scales.

Hmm thats what i thought too....Most of our fighters are from US and Russia i totally support if the Ministry want to buy the Super Hornets or more SU - 30, getting fighters from another manufacturer gonna be training, maintainence and logistical nightmare...
@ThisisFlight7 жыл бұрын
It certainly makes sense to keep some commonality. Currently the RMAF has one of the most diverse and varied inventories of any similarly-sized air force - great for us spotters, but, as you say, logistically difficult. That being said, the Hornet is out of the question. To me, the Su-30 appears to make the most sense from the government's point of view, but at the same time, I just love the Rafale and Typhoon! So on a personal level, I'm fairly pleased to see that they are the two front-runners.

Lol yeah since Trump is now in power...When Obama still in power we do get some proposal....BTW our government is sure is stingy when it comes to defence budgets....we seriously need some attack helicopters for our army and they still doesn't want to let the sikorsky retire

amimjk mahathir did magic? May i know where u get your facts from? Mahathir is not anti america but he hates foreign interferences. Malaysia decided to buy from russia after we were told of the 'do' and 'dont' with the f18. After purchasing it then we were told that we need to get some kind of codes from the US if and when we wanna enggage with other countries. Not that we wanna go to war with any country but it is not fair for us to beg for something which supposed to be ours. We retaliated by buying russian planes. Take note that malaysia for almost a decade were at odd and always been in conflicts with the US. Al Gorw even warned us for mishandling our ex deputy prime minister and prior to our election day back then. Only during obama's era things turn better.
