What you have here, is a huge wedge of land, a valley extending to the mid point of the island, which is owned by the descendants of the Rice family which came as missionaries and ended up owners. What is not shown is the house high up the valley which you can see from off shore. The gardens are a device to keep the Rices out of sight and keep locals complaining tamped down. Across the road there is what once was a road leading down to a plot of land Elizabeth Taylor owned, back in the 50s, which her brother lived in a cabin on. "Taylor's Camp" it was called in the days the Hippies squatted in the old terraces which are now a state park. Everyone was naked in those days.

How much time do you recommend spending there?

We spent about an hour and a half, but could easily imagine spending much more time to take it all in. It's a wonderful place!

Nice video; however, the correct pronunciation of limahuli is LEE-MAH-HULI. Pronouncing local names properly goes a long way.
