I have shoot both. I had a QAD for the last year and have gone through 3 rest under warranty. The QAD warranty Is great. The first two rest after a shooting bunch of arrows it would start to stick when trying to pick up launcher arm. Then I would have tunning issues. The 3rd rest did same with sticking but then would not release on shot and arrow would hit launcher and arrow would go off sometimes causing you to miss the target. Once you force the launcher to release without it releasing on its own the rest will start to stick. Another negative to QAD is if adjust anything on rest by moving it up or down you need to check timing of rest. Cord stretch can effect rest timing easier. QAD better containment of arrow before shot. Once installed in bow you have to check timing of bow because it will put pressure on cable which can change timing of cams. After talking with QAD they told me a different way to set up rest than the methods that are out there and on the instructions. To do what they said you have to have a press or someone else needs to look at when rest is coming up on draw. They want you to draw bow and have rest stop coming up at about 1” to 2” before full draw. Once I set up new rest as QAD suggested the rest has operated great. QAD is quieter than hamskea. I also have a hamskea It has been easier to tune. If cord stretches it doesn’t affect rest timing as much or you tune as much. It also supports your arrow longer which really helps if you like shooting heavier arrows. For me it tuned faster as has been more accurate. I have been able to bare shaft out to 30 yards. If walking through woods with arrow you need to hold arrow down with finger to stop arrow from moving around as much and not make noise. You can repair in field also, as long as you have enough cord. I like to use a prusuk knot on cable to be able to quickly adjust cable tension or to be able to let rest up to check arrow level. Then rest tension and good to go They both are good rest it just depends on personal preference.

I have ran the QAD for years, this season I'm switching to an Hamskea. Main reason, I don't have a press at home and it something happens to the cable driven string (which did last yr) I have to take it to a shop, with the limb driven I believe I can work on it anywhere. Just my thoughts, might be wrong but future will tell! Great video, and info. P.S. If I can find an rip-cord ratchet it might have a good chance to get on my bow as well!!

I have used a Trophy Taker cable driven drop away rest on my Hoyt Alpha Max 32 since 2010. I just upgraded to a Hamskea Epsilon that is the cable driven or limb driven version. It set-up as a limb driven right now. It’s fine, but I need to call their technical support and find out what needs to be done to make it cable driven. Good video.

I honestly do not think the cord is stretching. It is the rubber dampener stretching and settleing. The older Hamskea used a metal spring to tension the cord. Seemed like they had fewer problems with "stretching". Limb driven rests can also be timed to support the arrow for a longer or shorter distance.
@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors
@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors 9 сағат бұрын
I do agree, I think that big rubber dampener down at the bottom is sure enough the culprit. I have never used a limb driven drop away. I’ve heard the noise the arrow can make as the fork rises and the arrow is bouncing there. Why would one want to have something very possibly make noise when drawing down on any animal? I started years ago with the Ripcord ( never had any issues for like years) then went to the QAD when the internals changed and it stayed upright on a letdown. All cable driven. No goofy football. I split the cable and slip the cord in between. Then tie it in. Anytime one can eliminate another variable in the hunting equipment is a plus, IMO. 👍👍👍👍

I agree 100% friend,. I did get the limb driven form target bow and I Have to say I really like it, I will say, it can be drawn quiet like the QAD, it will bounce around if you draw it fast though, so you are correct, for the time being I will stick with the QAD for hunting, I like you have it tied in with no silly extra parts, just tied in and it works. @@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Before my buddy Keith passed away ( as the result of falling out of a tree-stand because he refused to wear a safety harness), he always used a Drop Away rest and mocked the Whisker Biscuit as a rest for beginners. Until the time he was Bowhunting in Montana during a snowstorm and a Monster buck came under his tree-stand and his drop away rest froze and he missed a 20 yd shot at a “Buck of a Lifetime” type of buck. Everyone has their own feelings about what works best for them but personally I’m a KISS ( Keep It Simple Stupid ) kinda guy. But then I’m also a keep my shots under 30 yards kinda guy as well.

I have had both the MX2 and the epsilon. Now I will admit I had only a 1000 shots with the MX QAD with no issues. I just did not like the interface. I put on the epsilon when it just came out. I shot 1000s of shots with no issues. I changed my strings on my V3X 29 and no rest adjustment needed. I just bought the Lift X29.5 and now have shot another 1000 shots the epsilon is solid. I like the limb driven style, used TT smackdown pro for years, on 3 different bows. Got a QAD on the bow I bought just last year and used it for a year. Changed to an Epsilon now. No issues with the cable driven but didn't always remember to lock it up and that seemed to affect the draw a little. Don't like the cable driven ones pulling on the cable. Why don't they have a short elastic of some kind connected to the cable for easier timing with no stress on the cable.

These arrow rest in this video are Both mechanical and the cable (cord) is tied to either the limb or the bow cable to activate the rest, to fall away upon release of the arrow, so you do not have fletching interference, it is a more modern way of improving over all arrow accuracy down range. @HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors
@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Күн бұрын
@@NewBeginningNewCreation Know this, I plan to do a video on the whisker biscuit style rest that will post next week. But in short form, the reason these are so popular is the opportunity to shoot more accurate is there, IE, no fletching clearance issues etc. With that said, for your son right now, I would leave the whisker biscuit style on his and or whatever non mechanical he is already using. short version, the Whisker biscuit style is still very popular and if you are not shooting over 30 yards, the clearance issues with a properly tuned bow and arrow set up would be negligible.. If you ever watch any of the pro's shooting, I can promise you they are all running one style of these two or the other. I will also say these are expensive and while keeping a budget in mind, the cheaper arrow rest work just fine and I hunted and shot with the normal ole arrow rest that just sticks on the side of the bow for the first 10-15 years with no issues at all. I was shooting everyday as a young man back then and had no issues shooting a quarter size object at 20 yards. I will go into more details on the pro's and cons on the arrow rest in next weeks video. but in the end, it will to me come down to budget and keeping your goals in mind. I have never shot a deer past 30 yards, In fact one of the deer I harvested this season was between 25-28 yards, and again, prior to that the majority are less than 20 yard shots and I have had great success with even a rubber stick on rest. (they did not have drop away rest back then) I have also harvested plenty of deer with a recurve or long bow, shooting off the shelf with no real rest at all on them. I hope this answer helps my friend. Dale
