What an amazing "discovery" Richard Smith is for me! I went to his website to see if the guy tours and what do you know, he is going to be in a town next to my little backwards town in Florida - IN INVERNESS NEXT THURSDAY 01/16/2020 - can this Monday get any better????

I now believe in reincarnation. The violin player, Florian Cristea must be Stéphane Grappelli reborn and Bina Coquet is Django Reinhardt re-spawned with all good fingers on his left hand.

Is that the 2nd guy from the left? Because I feel like he was missing more notes than actually playing. Definitely outclassed by Richard Smith in my opinion.
@ParaBellum20243 жыл бұрын
I don't understand your comment, given that he's sat next to Richard Smith. Others who leave Bina standing would be Tommy Emmanuel, Joscho Stefan, Bireli Lagrene, Damjan Pejcinoski, Paola Hermosin and any metal shredder.

@tablature61216 жыл бұрын
I take it you mean Richard's nylon string guitar? Every time I've ever seen him, it's always with that Kirk Sand. Probably because it suits his regular style of playing -- thumb/finger pick -- much better, especially with the wider string spacing. He is no stranger to Gypsy Jazz, as he used to play every Thursday night at the Station Inn in Nashville with the Hotclub of Nashville -- John Jorgenson, Bryan Sutton, Charlie Chadwick, Stuart Duncan, et al. Also, seen him back up bluegrass artist with some amazing flatpicking. I think it's easier for him to change styles than it is to change guitars, for whatever occasion presents itself. He can do it all and do it extraordinarily well, but he'll do it with the Sand...guaranteed.

@@tablature6121 it the way it was amplified. He is an amazing player
@tablature61216 жыл бұрын
An amazing player, indeed, but also quite an amazing guy, as well. Regardless the amplification, the fact he's playing a nylon string is still evident to the ear of the well attuned. It never really bothered me in the least, nor does it take anything away from his awesome talent. But, apparently it is a bit unsettling to some (Free Shipping Always, above). I can appreciate that, and they can still appreciate the talent, "tone" notwithstanding.
