I stumbled across a random tornado siren video and wondered if I could find a vid of the Limerick station sirens that I used hear once a month growing up. Low and behold... Here's a recording! If I remember right they always test them at 2pm on the first Monday of the month. Thanks for a fun bit of reminiscing back into my childhood!

I'm very glad I could help! Limerick does a 2-minute test on the first Monday of June and December. Every other month the first Monday is a growl test, which lasts about 10 seconds.

I remember the one on route 29 just outside Green Lane being tested. Such a haunting howl bouncing off the sides of the Perkiomen valley.

I hated this sound growing up in PA. It always felt like the world was ending. Heard it loud and often in Scranton in the late 90's, early 2000's. That sound still sends chills down my spine. Glad I moved to Colorado

You’re not hearing those sirens in this video. Exelon replaced all of the outdoor sirens in the mid 2000s with these sirens, they all used to be Thunderbolts.

Might try to get an ambience of these for the next June test.

I remember hearing the tests in both Sumneytown and Red Hill. Years apart of course. There was one that happened and an evacuation was prompted during a fall evening in the late 80s or early 90s. I can't remember. But there was a mad rush of people driving on 63 towards Lansdale. A bit silly since heading towards qtown would have been more logical.

I live in Douglassville and you can see the Limerick power plant all the way out there. We used to live in Oaks which is in the red zone, meaning if there was a melt down then we would have been vaporized :D Plus the siren plays every first monday of the month. You can hear the siren all the way in phoneixville which is where I work at.

Ayyye i live in douglassville to hahahaha. Yeah scary thought of this shit happening and nuclear power plants are to much of a risk in my opinion. Funny thing is we don't see any of the electricity from it. All of goes to new york and else where. Alot of the people there who work security don't trust it at all but you make great money from working there like shit ton.

*waves to you* Since you're a douglasville resident I have to wave back at you. That seems to be the trend around here. (lived here a year now) Do you know if the power plant is hiring any custodians there? I'm a custodian at the Renaissance Academy in phoneixville but the people I work with I'm not really clicking with well.

Stop spreading fear and lies. A "meltdown" would not vaporize anyone in Oaks. The danger is from fallout. Do your homework.
@MrLyosea5 жыл бұрын
@@mattfoley6082 Um, I'm not "spreading fear and lies" I just got the word confused. If a nuclear fallout did happen then in at least 10 seconds most of Oaks would be destroyed.
