It looks just like any corporate office building in the middle of Limerick city centre, but it houses one of the most important services available to people who live on the margins in our communities - those who are homeless, are afflicted with addiction, or who live in hostels or other direct provision accommodation.
The Health Service Executive Social Inclusion Clinic offers what it calls a "wrap around" service provided by doctors, nurses and key workers to those that the normal medical and health services do not or cannot reach.
Dr Patrick O'Donnell has been working in the service for around five years meeting clients at soup kitchens, in homeless services, in direct provision centres, and at Traveller halting sites.
The Covid pandemic has made their work particularly difficult over the past two years, and they have had to adapt their services to ensure they can still reach these groups who were already isolated even before Covid-19 wreaked havoc on everyday life, businesses and services.
