Creativity thrives in limitations. This explains why old Minecraft was more enjoyable. Now we have a quintillion different blocks to choose from, and although its nice to have more options of blocks and a massive terrain generation, it alienates the player, since now that everything is beautiful and detailed, nothing is special anymore.

old minecraft is the perfect liminal space for our generation, cause it was liminal when we first played it, but now with the added nostalgia and familiarity, with the new minecraft feeling fast paced and overwhelming, going back to the older versions has deep levels of nostalgia. the spaces are already liminal, featuring places where it feels like there should be life and people but utterly devoid of it, the console tutorial worlds especially fit this
