This is why I really like these old worlds and builds. Despite the limitations of the world and it’s blocks, they genuinely feel so honest and sincere to the passion of the actual game.

The old building style was a great example of how a building doesn't need to look super fancy and flashy to look good. Even with minimal detail like these maps, it can still look amazing.

I'd say games were VERY popular back then, as much as they are today. If anything, the social media aspect of gaming wasn't there yet in scale. The first big creators in minecraft like Achievement Hunter or Hermicraft were starting to gain steam.

I've been trying to find two old maps that I vaguely remember downloading. The first was a silent hill inspired asylum I think. I remember that it had a big room with a glass half-dome ceiling. I also remember there were a lot of jack-o'-lanterns used as lights, so it may have had a custom texture pack. The second I remember had a port town with an airship and a railway leading to another town. The main thing that I remember was a circular mine thing which had glass floors with various shops/stalls on each floor and a system of minecarts to travel between floors. I think this was maybe between 2012-2015 I know it's vague, but if this sounds familiar to anyone and you know what maps these might be, I'd love to hear about it! I've been trying to find them for a while, but I don't have a ton to go off of.

Loved this video, great work! I used to play Minecraft as a teen back in 2010 - I bought Minecraft when it was still in Alpha, version 1.0.14, before survival multiplayer existed! I remember spending a lot of time on Classic servers (MC Classic was available for free for everyone on the Minecraft homepage back then) and this video takes me right back to that era. I'd *love* to see you cover some Alpha maps too!

Then when I found Survival Mode I got hooked and started watching my favorite creators play during 2010 which were bluexephos (yogscast) and davidangel64 (x's adventures in minecraft) honestly good times. I wish I could go back and relive those memories.

Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

3:18 I don't know what the block does, do you? I don't know. I dunno. Hey everybody, I'm here with my good friend, Inspector Gadget. Uh, how're you doing Inspector Gadget? I'm having a lot of fun. So, you wanna do some reviews, Inspector Gadget? I'm better than you are, so I should do the review. Okay, alright, well, Inspector Gadget's gonna do the review. You can shut up now, I'm always on duty! Hmm, do you have that game, "Miney Crafta"? Penny was telling me she was playing it on her computer book. Let's play Miney Crafta! Um, well, I have Minecraft, I think that's probably what you're talking about. Let's try that. Hmm, oh yes, this is it: Miney Crafta! No no no, Inspector gadget, it's called Minecraft. Oh, Minecrap! I cannot wait to play Minecrap. Do you know what my favorite thing to do is in Minecrap? I love building bricks with Minecrap. Building bricks with Minecrap is the best thing and the most amount of fun you can have while playing an app. I understand why all the kids are playing this game these days -- it's because they like to build brown bricks with Minecrap. I also like to build brown bricks with Minecrap. It's the most fun you can possibly have. What is the point of Minecrap? Well, there really is no point. It's a sandbox game. Oh good, I love building sandcastles. No, that just means you can do anything you want like explore, build stuff, and mess around. What kind of stuff can you build? Well, anything, really. There's one guy that built a scale model of the Starship Enterprise. My deduction skills as a detective tell me he has quite possibly, never had sex. Come on, Inspector Gadget, it's about expressing your creativity! But, he is just copying a fake rocket ship blueprint designed by someone else! Seems more like monkey see, monkey do than using creative energy if you ask me. Oh, you think you can do better, huh? I have a robotic implant in my brain that lets me preform 12,000,000,000,000,000 calculations per second. I could rewrite the entire game's code, while helping Penny with her homework, and cleaning up brain's doody, all at the same time! He's a nerd, and I hate nerds more than I hate MAD agents. What an asshole! He may not have a powerful cybernetic brain like yours, but I think that the kid used Minecraft in a unique, and complex, yet beautiful way, making the adaptation of---- I told you to shut up, but you didn't listen. Oh look, a free iPad.

This is late, but for Glasshall4, the reason there isn't any bedrock is because it wasn't present in the world generation at the time. Until later in infdev, at times the lower world barrier would be an infinite lava sea, and at other times it would be bedrock, and in the spring of 2010, it was a lava sea.
