sir please, Boron does not have 2s3 shell rather it has 2s2 and 2p1 configuration.Please correct it in timeline 7:05

In BeH2 Beryllium loses its 2 electrons to get helium electronic configuration but you are considering it as sharing and doing (2+2)electrons
@amrithasenthildaughter22724 жыл бұрын
He told that berilium should have 8 electrons in the valence shell because the Noble gas in it's period 'neon' has 8 valence electrons.So the octet rule depends upon the Noble gas electronic configuration.
@palak69813 жыл бұрын
Agreed Shreyas, beryllium follows the duplet rule as it is easier for beryllium to lose 2 electrons rather than accepting 6 electrons according to energy considerations Moreover, being a metal it is electropositive
@apnatime4831 Жыл бұрын
See none of the failure bonds are covalent idk why we are expecting them to complete octet

U have told their is not failure in h2 molecule as it attain its nearest nobel gas configuration (i.e. helium) So also the lithium form coordinate covalent bond with chlorine and denote its one electron to chlorine and attain the electronic configuration of helium Note the point don't ignore

@hemantsinghshekhawat72244 жыл бұрын
The octet rule, as stated in your video, says that every element tends to achieve the electronic configuration of the noble gas nearest to it. And going by that, H2 molecule is not considered as a failure of octet rule, as stated in the video. But then, following the same point, how is LiCl or BeH2 or BCl3 failure of octet rule??? Lithium, Beryllium and Boron, all three have Helium as their nearest noble gas, so all three of them try to achieve the electronic configuration of Helium, which has a duplet and not an octet. So how can we consider this as a failure of octet rule?????????????
@Prabhav264 жыл бұрын
Yes, I also had the same doubt but... The bonding here is covalent not ionic so Li, Be & B are not loosing electrons rather they are sharing
@anshimakushwaha89683 жыл бұрын
Li ,Be and B have 1s,2s , 2p orbitals thus they have to complete their n shell......to attain Noble gas configuration Don't connect it with hydrogen as it has only 1 s orbital
