Limited Run Games continues to prey on retro gamers

Limited run games is scamming the gaming community with half baked products.They have been caught just burning discs instead of pressing discs and many people in the gaming community have been calling them out. This is a warning to consumers not to buy from limited run games. They are exploiting peoples nostalgia and not delivering the products they claim.

Update : limited games actually did apologize because of public outcry. They claim they tested it and had no issues and that they had done their research, and for some reason came up with the conclusion that CD-R would be better. But since people were upset and having issues, they are looking at partnering with someone different who can press the discs and will send out replacements. It’s I’m glad they’re doing the right thing, but I also think they should’ve had a more rapid response. But at the end of the day, I’m still glad people will get the game they paid for. Also, LRG is going to halt all disc production of 3DO games Until they figure this out

I only have one LRG title that I bought second hand for Switch. After seeing so much of the shady crap they've pulled, then this, I'm certainly not inclined to ever buy from them directly. Now I have to wonder if some of their Sega CD games I've seen at my local store are even on discs that are of any respectable quality.

Yeah, if I ever do get another LRG game it’ll probably be secondhand. I haven’t heard any other complaints about their older CD based games. They did finally issue an apology but they really took their sweet time, and somehow I don’t buy their excuse for why they did it. But I am glad they’re gonna fix it for the people who bought it.

I don't know I only buy PS4 and PS5 games I don't own any of the retro consoles anymore apart from Game Boy and Game Gear

I wonder if anybody went back to some of their other niche games that they done for consoles like the Sega CD, and determined if they use the same practices back then. Or any of their PC releases that were on CD or DVD. And I wonder how much Embracer group is involved with this, maybe they are the reason for this lazy cost cutting move.

Yeah, it’s really hard to say. It just depends how rare these games are and how many people opened them.

Well that’s a new low for LRG. On top of the expensive shipping that goes with the orders , to get a DVD-R is a scam for sure.

Yeah, I didn’t really care who they had as a community manager to begin with, and no one else did either until the story broke out. The whole thing was kind of fake outrage. Exactly , selling CD-Rs and not being transparent about it is a pretty disgusting business practice.

I stopped doing Limited Run when it turned out it wasnt really limited and the wait times were horrible. I can find most elsewhere for cheaper.

I remember buying golf golf story , and then I decided to resell it because I didn’t want it anymore, and I already owned it digitally. It didn’t make any sense to own. I got the Scott Pilgrim games and the vinyl and I already did videos on that , and there were problems there too.

Yea i heard about the cdr situation. I dont completely understand what the big deal about it. Plus im a fan of LRG. Now they arent perfect. They have problems but i buy from them a lot and i really enjoy their physical games for switch, ps5 and xbox. Im loving that they are supporting physical xbox a whole lot because of the game pass situation with xbox and them trying to get rid of physical xbox games. So many LRG games im looking forward to preordering. I watch your videos all the way through. I never had a 3do. But i got the switch version of plumbers dont wear ties.

The reason it’s a big deal is because it’s bad to sell games that don’t work. And I get that some people only buy LRG games to put on a shelf . They have the money and the tech to press CDs , it doesn’t even make sense why they did this.

Yeah, and I’m sure there’s some shelf collectors who will never open this, but on the other side of the coin are a ton of people who love to open every single collectors edition and play them physically. LRG must think people are idiots.

Because most of the people buying their games are scalpers who flip them on the secondary market for 3 times the price or those Losers that keep them sealed on a shelf or get them graded cuz they think they will become valuable and turn a profit in the future I only buy what I actually want and always open it to play it

Totally understandable. They need to release an apology and send everybody who ordered one of pressed disc. I was watching an unboxing video of this thing and the ironic part is they pressed the CD soundtrack , but not the game. You can’t make this stuff up.
