It's weird how bitter and unfunny Tim seems now. His podcast Office Hours barely seems like a vehicle for comedy, all the comedy comes from the shitty sample drops that the two other guys throw in incessantly. He's brought a lot of talented and funny people on that show, including Limmy, and the atmosphere and energy that Tim and his show creates seems to try and counteract any attempt at them being funny and also seems to counteract any attempt at them having a thoughtful conversation. Not sure what the point of the show is if it does none of those things and is mainly just an excuse for Tim to be loud and brash, desperately thrashing in the water to let the world know he still exists.
@MrFooFighter133 жыл бұрын
@@lugie69 Maybe it's all a parody of the concept of a podcast and a lot of the guests just aren't in on it. Seems like the kind of thing he would do. Not defending the show though, I don't watch it either haha.

Cheers was brilliant. So was Only Fools and Horses. There seems to be a bit of sneering from alternative comics towards ‘normal’ comedy, as if it’s unimaginative or too vanilla. I find it really off putting. I see no reason why people can’t enjoy Cheers and OFAH but also enjoy the likes of Limmy, Monty Python, Armando Iannucci, Brass Eye, Stewart Lee etc

I don't know I don't think Limmy gas anything against safer comedy it's just not what excites him. He's not wrong Cheers isn't that funny but it's also not really meant to be, which is kind of how I understand shows like Everybody Loves Raymond. They're just funny enough to hook you but ultimately you're meant to be interested in the relationship dynamic and find it sort of s comforting and relaxed atmosphere. Only Fools and Horses is okay, I think they clearly made something that resonates and there's some brilliant jokes in there. I think the worship of it from what I've seen (obvs I don't know where you're from) always seems like a distinctly English thing, kind of like Still Game is for Scottish people.

Total nonsense. I don't thinkyou understand what the word stolen means.
@fakename5033 жыл бұрын
@@urmumsbaps Not only is it stolen, Tim made his whole career of of it. Google/KZbin Adult Swim and Doug Pound. The whole 'random' (Do you smoke? Make sure your dog does too. [ADULT SWIM]) thing that replaced their whole edgy early anime (You quit smoking. Your friends don't think you're cool anymore. [ADULT SWIM]) thing comes completely from Doug Pound and his friend. They made a movie named 'Printer' (I think) in the early 2000's. Adult Swim based their whole thing off that and his editing style. (One that I can think of is Too Many Cooks) Doug Pound actually works for Adult Swim/Tim and Eric. He's a satire of a DJ. Look up his series Pound House. It's basically shot for shot Tim and Eric. (For the most part not drowning you in surrealism though)

Tim Heidecker's best work is On Cinema, which I don't think has input from Dougg Pound and has a whole different style from Tim and Eric. It's not based on camp video editing or parody so much and it's funnier in my opinion.
