Theres an infuriating bit in this song where he says "your boy" about 5/6 times in like 15 seconds as if it's some clever rhyme he's come up with or something and you can tell he's real satisfied with himself. Also, how he's managed to convice a whole generation of teens / early 20-somethings that he's hot by his carefully curated "smooth guy" persona in perplexing to me. Especially with THAT beard!

The annoying part about these industry plants of today is that there are many decently catchy pop tunes like this pushed out through brute force buying of appropriate songwriters, producers, AI etc but the actual performers, their image, persona and especially lyrics in this case are so cringe and lacking. The specific combination of Harlow's image/persona, the 12 year old target audience and these lyrics are especially abysmal.

Yeah, but in the 80's and 90's, amongst all the pop, and cheesy one hit wonders, ACTUAL music used to make number 1. Oasis, Blur, Prodigy, U2, Manics street preachers et al. I don't look at the charts anymore, but unless it's some old song that's big on tik tok for 5 mins, then Bands and credible artists don't make number one anymore, if they don't appeal to under 15's. Last time I looked, every song was some talentless rapper with about 50 other talentless rappers featuring on the song. Utterly depressing

Pop music is made by young idiots, for young idiots. Always was, to a degree. I’m closer to Limmy’s age than to Jack’s target audience’s age. I don’t hate him. I don’t hate industry plants (Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC were industry plants too). I don’t hate modern music. But this song is utterly forgettable and has cringe lyrics. He doesn’t have the charisma to pull it off. It has the “bop” factor (well, the sample does), but they do nothing with it musically or lyrically.
