For years me and a friend have been enjoying Peter Simon, sometimes watching for hours waiting for the hilarious moments that may or may not come, depending on his mood and that of the studio. It's a bit like watching a football match, waiting for that wonder goal, but when it comes it's always worth it. When I tell 'normal' people I watch a shopping channel they all think I'm mad or being wilfully obscure but really it's some of the best comedy on the box. He's still on Ideal World to this day. I'm so glad Limmy is a fan too

Ha! I remember that specific lion picture. But my favourite Peter moments were when he tried to sell more abstract things like the scent of a perfume and it was pure word salad. "The essence of a wish of a lost romance" or some such pish

"Good luck if you get it" was one of his brilliant catch phrases. I remember one occasion he was telling his female co presenter that he'd had a power cut at home, but instead of "power cut" he said "power cunt" then covered his mouth in shock and shame at his error...he was/is always entertaining.

Used to love watching BidTV and PriceDrop into the early hours. My favourite presenters were Mike Mason and Sarah Hendy. Would sit and smoke and watch them for hours on end with zero intention of ever buying anything. 😂 Miss those days.

that utter disbelief in a price drop followed by checking with the producer and then resigned acceptance of a massive fuck up happens almost every day without exception on those channels, I can only assume it works on gullible low I.Q types, its very entertaining to see the terrible acting though.

This late night tv reminiscing just reminded me of Quizmania (2005+) with that guy Greggles 😂 I'd love to see Limmy watch some of his stuff, the questions were like 'name a boys name' (there would be 5 answers or something, cant remember if it was only the top 1 that won a prize) and the top answer would be fucking Cornelious or something 😆 but I mind watching it drunk cos Greggles was funny. When they're interrupting themselves speaking, you know its a voice in their ear telling them to say stuff, was it Burniston or Chewin the Gat that had a sketch of a guy selling stuff on tv and being constantly interrupted in his earpiece? 🤔 I think it was Chewin the Fat.....I've got a mental image of Ford Kiernan as the seller and Greg Hemphill as the voice in his ear..... I love that Limmy quotes random stuff from years ago, my dad used to quote something we watched when I was wee, all I remember is a wee old woman saying 'I want my soup soup'....and any time my dad made soup he'd say that 😂 I know I'm rambling....I'm drunk commenting 😅

i was watching the night it all went wrong for those late night 'quiz' shows, they came out of nowhere filling the itv graveyard slots, this particular night they were charging folk to ring in and answer the question 'top ten things found in a womans handbag'...the way they worked it was the previous day they would genuinely ask a 'panel' of ordinary folk the next days question and randomly skim off answers from the hundreds of suggestions they got, mainly from drunk old men just home from the pub, this was fully supervised and above board so there could be no impropriety...anyway on the night some lucky punters got straight in with lipstick and handkerchiefs and the like and took away their fivers and tenners for the lower prizes but the £50 top answer just seemed to elude everyone, it literally went on for hours because they couldnt move on until theyd all been guessed, itv regulations, i think it was 50p to make a guess, all done through your fone bill, pissed up cheeky old fellas were making guess after guess, they had the gallery in absolute hysterics with their 'tampons' and 'condoms' but they had no luck whatsoever, what the hell was that top answer? itv were making an absolute fortune but time ran out, it hit 4am and the rules stated that a 'quiz' could not run from one night to the next so for the first (and last) time they were forced to reveal the 'top item found in a ladies handbag' to a dumbstruck audience who had tied themselves in knots all night....it was of course 'rawl plugs'....needless to say the whole operation was brought under the spotlight and 'quiz night' disappeared from the itv schedules as fast as it had arrived but boy was it some ride! great telly

Poor bloke. 1:05 he rubs his hands softly together as he recalls his father viciously beating him with a belt, he does this as a comfort mechanism to help him relax as he’s having a bad mental reaction to him remembering such a harrowing memory. He was probably beaten often as a child which contributed to his calming and soothing demeanor. When he laughs towards the end. He does this not because he think it’s amusing, but because in his psyche, he is recounting a moment where he felt humiliated and invalid. He’s trying to reduce the stress by producing endorphins into the brain, as it produces more oxygen. Behind this mask there is feeling of rage, despair, disappointment and embarrassment. This guy has been through some stuff, and some.
