Throughout the movie _The Prom,_ I kept thinking, "I know her. Why do I know her?" When if finally clicked, I was like, "OH MY GOD!!!" I yelled for my Broadway-obsessed, teenage son to come into the room, paused the movie, pointed at the screen, and said, "Hamilton!" My son's eyes got wide, and he said, "The bullet!" P.S. That same son, in 5th Grade, won a district-wide poetry contest...largely because he was obsessed with (and thus heavily influenced by) _Hamilton._ As he recited his piece, a rapid-fire, five-way rhyme actually caused a collective, impressed, giggling, "Whoa!" to spread through the audience. Even as I type, my eyes fill with tears of pride. Thank you, Lin-Manuel Miranda!

Hopefully this gives a push to film theater live on stage. So many musicals aren’t being performed anymore that are lost to their long lasting audience. I’ve watched the 2008 Rent Filmed Live on Broadway like a thousand times. I want more.

We have the Rent revival, Legally Blonde, original Into The Woods, Hamilton....I fully agree, we need professional movie quality filming of live performances of EVERYTHING. Maybe more people would be drawn to Broadway if they didn't have "waiting for a show to come to their town" or "high ticket prices" deterring them. Local arthouse movie theatre did an entire series a few years back, of films of live plays. There was a really good one of Frankenstein with Cumberbatch playing the Doctor. It works, I don't know why they don't do it more.
