I'm so happy that this musical wasn't forgotten, it was just as impactful as Hamilton during it's time. I'm also happy for Lin, a lot of people might think he's getting too many movies, but I really think he deserves it all because he's done so much in the course of his life and I can't wait to see what he does next.

I actually go to Washington Heights every other day, Because l love Dominican food there are mixed with Haitian bloodline, so not many of them are Fair skin they are more darker Hispanics, also disagree with people have to wait, Celia Cruz never waited 👌 this is the same thing they told me as I went to an event to go visit rita and bring her some art, from the little boy that was left behind at the age of three and I mysteriously put everything together I was told that they were only cousin, when in reality they were brother and sister, I felt like I didn't want me to even speak about it keep it hidden but how can I keep something like that hidden for so many decades I want to be the one to break the curse in my family line and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks I am proud of my bloodline because my father was a very good man, also in one of her books she states that she went to look for her brother and he had died of an overdose I am here today to come forward and say someone gave her the wrong information, he was very against that never even smoked a cigarette in his life, so today I have the question why write so many books about the little boy that was left behind never recovered this little boy, my only question today is didn't you not know he has kids and they do exist and they are here today to honor him, and would do whatever is possible to get the story straight in honor there father🙏 I even have footage of them saying if there was any interest she would have looked for us, so why write books about that little boy that became a man and had children

If I can, may I ask a question? Please don't think this is racist or anything....I know all the SJW's and toxic liberals (not the regular liberals, I like them) are quick to label anything "racist" or "homophobic" if it doesn't fit their thinking or seems "offensive", but why are they coming here to America to celebrate their culture and being proud to be Latino? What about their countries? What about going to their countries of Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico and South America and such and make films and more programs THERE to celebrate their pride? Why aren't they doing more to help bring the spotlight on the good points of being in their countries? Why do they have to push their identity and culture here in America where it is respectful to learn English and assimilate to fit in and get a better life? Why do they have to push illegal immigration when they forget about what and who they left behind in their countries? Where is the thought of celebrating their cultures IN their countries instead of stampeding and bulldozing their way to America? I would very much support a movie about how Puerto Ricans and other Latinos LOVE their countries and determined to stay there and help improve situations. I would love to see a movie where people in Latino countries celebrate THERE and love who they are, and help make more changes in their countries than what is going on now. What about that? Anyone have any thoughts?

@@dudabrands That is not true. Many Caribbean Latinos from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Cuba don't care for or get along with Mexicans, Salvadorans, and Central Americans. As an Afro Puerto Rican, I find Salvadorans and Mexicans to be very racist towards Afro Latinos.

@@carlosbright9615 yeah I have to agree we do have many bad apples, I'm also afro latina and there's way too much racism from white latinos :( I meant what I said earlier but ofc we unfortunately have to deal with horrible latinos as well

@hectornegron91553 жыл бұрын
And there's a very good reason for that. The Puerto Rican flag was born out of the love between Puerto Rican freedom fighters and Cuban freedom fighters when both islands were seeking independence from Spain. Then you have the flag that represents the city of Lares where in September 23 1868 Puerto Rican independentistas (freedom fighters) declared Puerto Rico an independent nation. That event is known as "EL GRITO DE LARES" or The Lares revolt or Lares uprising. That flag, the flag of Lares, the flag that represents that moment in our history, was born and inspired by the flag of the Dominican Republic. Like that poem goes: CUBA Y PUERTO RICO SON DE UN PAJARO LAS DOS ALAS. (Cuba and Puerto Rico are the two wings of a bird). The bird being of course the hispaniola (Haiti and Dominican Republic).

Great musical movie. Can't compare it to b'way show since I did not see that. Sad to hear Lin Manuel Miranda apologizing to the woke mob and then the venerated Rita Moreno apologizing for sticking up for him. This nonsense has got to stop. This man is a treasure and has done more to inject new blood into the broadway musical than anyone I know of in the past 25 years at least.

As an Afro Puerto Rican born in Manhattan (Spanish Harlem), I will watch this movie on HBO Max 5/10/21. However, I am disappointed in the lack of Afro Dominicans and Puerto Ricans in this movie. Corey Hawkins shouldn't have played the character Benny, an African American. An Afro Dominican should have been cast to play Benny. The same applied to the Mexican actress, Melissa Barrera.

There's no such thing as an "Afro Dominican". I was born and raised in the DR and I've never heard of that. We are a multiracial nation. Anyone from any race can represent us. Ethnic subgroups are NOT a part of our culture and we are very proud of that. 🇩🇴
