The idea that we don’t collect enough in taxes is bonkers. Simply incredible. We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Go look at a deep dive of the absolutely insane shit that we spend money on in the omnibus spending bills and you’ll find we’re subsidizing the most ludicrous programs (both foreign and domestic) to the tune of billions of dollars a year. Also the fact that we effectively subsidize, through NATO, all of Europe’s defense is a major reason those countries can afford to have the generous welfare states they enjoy. You’re welcome, Europoors. Add to that our ridiculous funding of the war in Ukraine and money we dump into Israel (a wealthy nation!) and other countries and pretty soon you’re talking about real money! So the answer is to stop doing that shit and focus on absolutely necessary spending here at home, so that we can cut taxes for everyone and stoke the fires of OUR economy. Collectin more in taxes is the exact opposite of what we should do.
