2009: OMG what carnival of nightmares is this?! 2018: Hey look, cardboard cutouts and Christmas lights, yay... Seriously though, it might look like a cheap upgrade (probably was) but it was pretty effective. It went from a nightmare-inducing It's a small world knockoff to something I could imagine kids not getting off and crying about later. A little pastels and twinkle lights go a long way.

The Carnival Fantasy wasn't that bad when I first watched it back in 2012, and the Illumination Fantasy reminds me of Hello Kitty Heaven.

I honestly prefer the Sanrio characters version I mean I really like the old version because well it was creepy but on the other hand I like Sanrio a little bit more and at the time of writing this comment I haven’t watched the whole video so I hope that Kuromi is going to be in it the whole thing

ngl, something about the second incarnation of the ride still feels creepy-- not necessarily the characters, i love sanrio 😂 but just how...bare everything is, the awkward silences and the cheap design just feel super uncomfortable definitely nowhere as creepy as the first version though, that was a literal nightmare

One could do a thesis on how the changes in this ride reflect the changes in our world. From 3-D "people" to cardboard cut-outs! (At least the 2009 ride had a creepy 'retro' feel to it. 2018 just plain 'fails.' - seems geared to toddlers & Teletubbies.)

The illumination fantasy was a very cheap decorated ride. Clearly its because of the expensive licensing fee of sanrio brand. That may cause of lacking for the budget for the ride. Very cute, slightly not impressive it feels like they clean the place and slapped lights and cutouts of sanrio character. Hope that over a time they make small changes to it.
