Linberg 1/32 scale Landing Craft | RC Conversion

RC Converted 1/32 scale landing craft on display at the St Albans model engineering exhibition.
Built by Peter Le Sueur a member of the Welwyn Garden City Society of Model Engineers.
The model is painted yellow on the inside to make it easier to see the electrical components, removable parts are painted red.

The motor is an old mabuchi from the scratch box and connected to the prop shaft by a piece of silicone tube. simples!

Nice job! I built this same kit as an RC model 35 years ago. I did the same as you, with the placement of the battery, motor, and rudder servo. Back then a simple 2 ch 75 Mhz RC receiver was about half the size of a cigarette pack- It wouldn’t fit anywhere inside the model. I hid it in the back of a 3/4 ton Weapons Carrier. (Italeri 1/35 Dodge WC kit.) The model worked, but only marginally. My biggest issue was I couldn’t find an adequate small prop, and my homemade one was terribly inefficient. Other problem was the weight of the truck meant the boat was a bit overloaded, which meant more work for the weak drivetrain. Your model runs really well- what is your drivetrain?

i did not build this. Peter did. i think he mentioned direct drive, but we spoke for over an hour and cant remember all the details. sorry about that. I have emailed him to see if he can provide me with more info about the motors used etc but he hasnt replied as of yet
