Hey thanks. I figured it was a simple fix, was able to remove my pedal switch, give it a quick temporary fix, and get me out of a parking lot after watching a movie. Really appreciate it

Thank you a million for sharing this knowledge with us, I was able to replace the fuse and stop light switch with no issues. But I had to press the gear shifter override button to drive the car to get the new switch. ($36 Auto Zone Corpus Christi, TX) How do I reset the override button?

Thank you for the video. I'm going to check and see if the brake lights come on. I've had the problem with it not going into gear but after restarting a couple times and trying to shift, it has gone into gear.

That is a load off my wallet if it works for me. Bought a 2007 MKX Lincoln at an online impound auction that is not shifting out of park. The wrecker driver that delivered the car this morning pointed out the bypass port next to the shifter. If I can fix that for 10 bucks, and get a key for less than $200 that will make my day. Bummer part is it will take six weeks before I get a title. Thanks for the tip. I am working with a lamo battery, but will check on that asap.

My break lights wont turn on, but the break is very stiff at the same time, does this happen to you in this video?

It probably did, from pumping the brakes with the engine off. I don’t remember exactly. If you pump brakes 3 or 4 times with the engine off the pedal will get really stiff.

Anything is possible but odds are that you have a different problem. It is however a cheap and quick swap if you want to try it.

@@mudrustworkshop9528 well i took it out just to inspect it and after I reinstalled it, my brake lights do not come on at all , is this a sign that it was wearing out soon? Because before although the shifter was stuck, I was pumping the brakes and the shifter would work and go down to drive , reverse , etc

Sounds like it could be, pumping the brakes and it working intermittently and shifting sounds like the switch is failing.

On my 06 the shifter lights AC lights and rear driving lights don’t work. Break lights do work
