This is the wrap up of my 1st work trip to Galesburg, IL. Surprising number of comments regarding me driving in the left lane. Please don't judge too harshly :) #Lincoln #TownCar #SignatureLimited

I think near 20MPG for a land yacht is respectable. My 1954 Lincoln Capri only got 15-16MPG. I agree with you that the TC loves to be driven. The more you drive it, the lower are your fixed costs like insurance and registration per mile. Congratulations on your new job.

The highway that you were on reminds me of Route 95 through much of southern Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia on my 815 mile trip from Maryland to Florida. I usually make this trip in December when it is cold, and I get virtually no bugs on the car. When I make the return trip in the summer, I have a ton of dead bugs on the car. I have been driving a Lincoln since 1986, and they are very comfortable on the highway. I also tend to stay in the left lane while on a trip like this, especially if I am doing well over the speed limit. The right lane seems to be more bumpy and have more pot holes, due to more traffic on it over the years.

Thanks for the comment! I got plenty of bugs driving there and back, but nothing that a little car wash can't handle. I got a lot of heat for driving in the left lane so I'll run some experiments in the right lane next time.

Nice to see one of these out on a road trip; where they excel. Love seeing the hood ornament out there! The high head winds can easily decrease your mpg by a lot. Don't feel bad, the plastic string on my gas cap broke also.

Thanks for watching! Not a big deal on that - just hope I don't forget that cap somewhere :)

I have thought about getting one of these for highway trips, but notice unless you're like 6'5''+ the seat looks like it does not come up very high. One problem I have with seats from that era in American cars is the seat top frame hits my shoulder blades, but the Lexus/Toyotas do not, until now. lol Meaning the Lexus Seats sometime late 2000s starting ending and lurching forward supposedly above the shoulders starting at this time, while their old seats were one size fits all.

I just love that video about the Lincoln Town Car's journey home, but as my imagination, one day, your Lincoln Town Car will be transformed from the Signature Limited to the Signature L! 😎🙏🏾🙌🏾🎸💖🥇🏆🌞🌈✝☯☮👑✨🌎🟢 #Lincoln #TownCar #SignatureL

Hey Buddy! How is that driver's license coming along? Are you ready to have your very own Town Car L?

The EPA mileage figures are calculated with a driving style nobody drives. I believe the highway mileage assumes a constant driving speed of 55 mph with no wind.
@kevincruz40453 жыл бұрын
Yes! My 2007 will get me 25 highway at 60 MPH, windows up, A/C off, cruise control on and maybe a tailwind. Above 70 mileage drops off quickly.

In that case, I give you the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth :)

Perfect cruising cars....I agree with you, I wouldn’t “downgrade” to a smaller vehicle that isn’t NEARLY as comfortable as your Lincoln! While the V8 engine isn’t the best on gas mileage, you’re still sitting there with plenty of power on reserve. You’re running 80+MPH at 2500 RPM....if you need to mash it down, you’ve got plenty to go!
@VitaliyKofman3 жыл бұрын
I love the leisurely cruise so there will rarely be any mashing 😆

My 2007 is still at 96.7k miles...... i really am not looking forward to 100k..... if i need to take a long road trip i rent.
@franknew90013 жыл бұрын
@ Kurt Russell-- My 2002 Town Car had 36k miles on it when I bought it in 2007. I didn't cringe when it hit 100k miles in June of 2019. (Well, maybe a little.) I would much rather drive the Town Car on a long road trip on the highway at high speed, rather than do city driving. These cars are great on the open road. By the way Kurt, please say hi to Goldie Hawn for me. LOL

I bought mine with 89K and been driving daily. With some good maintenance, mileage is just a number

Bro...these cars aren't even broke in till 150,000 miles. If I just keep routine maintenance up on this fine automobile it will take you cross country and back again ....in high style might I add. My 98' Grand Marquis has logged over 200k on it. It is my daily driver and runs like a new one. My 06' Grand Marquis has only 89k on it. They both get reasonable mileage, run smoothly, have adequate power and ride like I'm driving a Lazy-boy recliner. And the one with 200k runs just as well as the '06. If u treat them right....mileage is just a number. These things beg to be driven. They were designed for long road trips and interstate driving. That is when they shine. Just make sure u have good filters and oil before you start your journey. Happy travels.

Only thing on my mind that I’m not wanting to happen when driving it long distances also.... The windshield has that Lincoln star on it. Definitely don’t really want to pay extra to try to get that back if a rock cracks the windshield. Cuz I know just safelight isn’t gonna have that.. maybe. Really like that on the window.

Yep, it gives it an extra special feeling with all the stars everywhere.

Left lane hogging lol 😉 Try going 75 or 70 and see how the MPG changes. What gas do you use?

For some reason i get better MPG going 70 than i do going 55 in my Lincoln.... makes no sense i know, but it's true.
@Nathan_Jay3 жыл бұрын
@@kurtrussell5228 the gearing may be optimized for torque converter lockup so you get better fuel economy at 70 than you do at 55. There's probably more inefficient load at 55 in your car. I had the same thing in my Town Car with the 3.27 gearing, where I got about 24MPG at 55MPH but 28MPG at 70MPH.
@EnthusiastCarHangar3 жыл бұрын
@@Nathan_Jay I always find they keeping it at 2000k rpm usually offers the best mpg.

Have you looked into buying the most expensive gas is it any better on mileage and are for the engine
@VitaliyKofman3 жыл бұрын
Not really. It will probably get a little better MPGs, but the cost of extra grade fuel will probably offset it.
@franknew90013 жыл бұрын
@ kuna coins-- Fortunately these cars were designed to run on regular gas (87 octane), at least my 2002 Town Car is. Premium gas can be up to a dollar or more per gallon at some stations. I used to have a 1983 Lincoln Mark VI that required premium gas. At least back in the 1980's and 1990's, premium gas was only a little higher in price than the other grades of gas.
@kunacoins92463 жыл бұрын
@@franknew9001 So you are saying I can put 87 in my 97 Lincoln continental
@franknew90013 жыл бұрын
@ kuna coins-- If you had a 1997 Lincoln Town Car, you could definitely use regular 87 octane gas. I am not sure about the Continental. I would suggest that you look this up in your owner's manual. My Town Car also has this information on what grade of gas to use on the inner side of the lid that covers the gas cap.
