Lincoln Towncar 2004 HVAC Reset

If your climate system won't change the air temperature regardless of your desired temperature setting, then you may need to run a reset of the climate control computer.

I did this and I got three codes or numbers 22/16/12. I went out of the diagnostic mode, and I re-ran it, and I again got the same codes. I believe I shut off the car at this point and restarted it & ran the codes again this time I only got code 12. I again ran it and this time it was clear of any codes and the air was blowing better and also blowing on the floor a little bit like it wasn’t doing before but it’s still isn’t cold enough but thanks it’s really help me out I never knew about this. Good to know. These town cars have many interesting functions. You just don’t know what they are because they don’t tell you in the book.

I got to this video because I had to look up how to do this for my Grand Marquis and now the algorithm thinks I want to be a car tech... That said, I had the same issue with my Grand Marquis, and the diagnostic/reset is the same. Floor+Off following by Auto. I got errors 24 and 25 (bleeder faults) but I kept running the tests, the 25 stopped showing up... I just kept running it and eventually got the all clear and my AC was working again. Long story short, I think it was just getting the seals on the controls "cleaned" up by repeatedly pressing the buttons during the tests. I'd already replaced the o-rings about 6-7 years ago so I was pretty sure they were good... but I hadn't used them in years because my AC system had a leak and didn't work... we replaced the Schrader valves and recharged the system and checked everything else so we knew it was good... had to be the rings. It was a PITA... but so was driving around for years, in the south, during the summer, with ZERO AC and a driver's side window that wouldn't roll down. lol

I have a 2007 town car and my problem is for some reason the driver side vents blow hot air but all the other vents blow cold. I’m in Florida and temps dropped into the 30’s a couple days so I had heat on. It got hot today so I turned on a/c and now I have this problem. Any suggestions?

Hi Frank, there is a separate actuator motor for the drivers side vent temperatures and the passenger side vent temperatures (needed for the dual zone climate control). I would start with the reset shown here, and if you still have trouble an engine scan might give error codes for actuator motors that are not working. Unfortunately, replacing most of the actuator motors requires removing the dash board which is a rather large job. I was so happy that the reset alone fixed my problem :)

@@watershed44 sorry I haven’t got back sooner. Well, the reboot didn’t work. I did narrow down the passenger side actuator so I replaced it myself, wasn’t easy but I followed the steps and it worked. Codes came up with driver side and recirculating actuators. Recirculating one requires taking out the airbag so I might try it, but driver side means taking apart the dash. If the dash has to come out I may as well change out the rest of them too, so that’ll have to wait. What I have done tho is closed off driver vents(floor vent too) and got a fan that plugs into lighter port. Passenger vents kick out cold, fan circulates the air so at least it’s comfortable.

Hi. Thank.great video. Is your 2006 signature limited? I removed the module control and mine has no 4 color vacuum tube. Try to replace the 4 o rings ,,no vacuum solenoid?
