No report on L & I audit, State audit ready for exit audit meeting
Call to order at 7p.m.
New Ordinance language for dwellings will be addrssed next meeting.
Schwab came up with lower than original quote so council changed tire purchase from Discount Tire to Schwab.
Exit audit should be April 1st, Councilmember Jamie Schmunk prefers having the exit audit conference open to the public. Auditors Kennewick office told me that is easy. Bell and Pence say it is hard and expensive. HMMMMM????
WATER RESTRICTIONS
High speed fiber is coming to 3 sections of town, coming in from the North on Neilson, down to county shop and out from junction box located there.
Councilmember Weideman and Schmunk pointed out that Bell is stopping councilmembers from doing their job of oversight on buildings and facilities. Weideman also pointed out Bell has NO VETO POWER. TOWN mayors cannot veto ANYTHING. Councilmember Weidemann asked Bell if there was a VOLUNTEER unpaid position at the office. Bell said there is a volunteer office sub. Weidemann asked if the volunteer, who is Myra Horton, was bonded to take cash. Pence said NO and the volunteer did not take cash. WE ALL KNOW MYRA HAS TAKEN MANY PAYMENTS. Weideman asked for further info. Just FYI there was no advertisement for an unpaid volunteer job or approval by council for such a job. HOW LEGAL DO YOU THINK THAT IS????
COMMENT PERIOD from residents:
How can some be put on water restrictions when there are so many broken meters that are not even being charged overages? Request to give council a list of broken meters THAT LONDON HAS ASKED FOR SEVERAL TIMES.
Even though Henry's part-time job was eliminated a month ago Bell says he gets severance pay. There is no apparent requirement to pay unused sick leave when employee leaves, Seems like that $700-$800 should have been pre-approved by council.
THE VOLUNTEER POSITION at the office was discussed again.
Cat fight about dogs running loose, chasing cats through magnetic screen door into another person's house for the second time. Dog owner is a friend of the mayor and married to town crew member. Bell does not stop the swearing argument for a while and does not appear to fine the owner for dogs running at large.
Questions on Dump. Bell can't get employees to burn the dump.
THE ASPHALT FROM THE 5TH STREET PROJECT THAT BELL HAD DUMPED AT THE TOWN DUMP IS NOW A SOLID MELTED TOGETHER GIANT BRICK. Apparently it will take machinery to break it up. That project went $10,000 over and now, thanks to Bell ingenuity, it will cost residents EVEN MORE MONEY!!
