One of the if not one of THE most unheralded great songs of all time!

My favorite Linda Eder song. Just so beautiful!
@joshspeed77945 жыл бұрын
Just heard Linda sing this Tuesday night, 30 years later at 58 years of age and I think she sounded better! The highest note was stronger then, but everything else is fuller and richer, and carried more emotional weight now. I hope she continues to love singing.

A timeless performer. Linda killed it on broadway back then and is killing it in this video now! Truly a musical theatre icon

Definite differences in the lyrics and Linda's phrasing and timing in this version. It is interesting to see where the song started and what it evolved into in later years. Both are nice but the later version builds the emotion of the song better in my view.

Working my way through your back catalogue, I thought Issy van Randwyck had one of the most emotional songs , Image of Judy , with fascinating Aida. You've just matched her. Oh if you do read this , concert in 1999 "Bring on the Men" with additional lyrics .... hilarious , loved it . If you don't add digital downloads I'm definitely gonna bootleg that one for my collection . As usual , i Love the voice

this is Linda e d e r s best album way back in 1990 I believe it was her first one because every song is brilliant and highly emotional before I fall is my number one tearjerker but like I said they are all great songs I'm glad the CD is available it's been available for years now I have already spread the word a long time ago that if you're to get any adult contemporary CD this is the one to get I have three copies now great CD great lady good luck in your future ventures by the way this is a much better version than Barbra Streisand's version

We the world are in need of your voice to echo more now than ever. We need some more of what yesterday gave to the world. Just your voice alone offers life, hope and purpose. This, our world needs a fresh cup of tea, to which has flavor and yes and so much aroma. Lady, I met and always have loved you, in my mind, heart and more, my soul. Your, notes and endless breath give me shivers, that's when I KNOW THERE IS GREATNESS BEYOND THIS WORLD, IN CONTROL OF YOUR VESSEL. That's the kind of world I want to be in, you helped to hold on and go forward. Keep whispering the wisdom of living in every breath you take. G-d makes and entity, being you all by yourself. None other, could do what you give. Thank you for being alive, change is so near. There are times fans, audience forget you are a person after the performance with a life. I pray G-d continues to keep you filled with the breath he gave at your birth. I thought all hope was gone, until I heard your soul. Thank you, I can go on now.

If they had made a non musical Jekyll and Hyde film at the time this would have been perfect for the soundtrack. Or the end to a Jekyll and Hyde animated film.

Much similarity to Celine! I never realized! Very lovely
@kmsongbird6 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong but Celine tends to copy other artists, not the other way around as much. Considering Linda originated the role on Broadway, I'd assume she was first with this version. Celine's "At Last" is an absolute note for note, rhythm for rhythm knock-off of Edda James' original. Just a thought.
@bashbashbashu6 жыл бұрын
@@kmsongbird And Linda Eder isn't, she herself has stated that she takes heavy inspiration from Barbra Streisand, and it's evident from her diction. No artist is ever 100% original, growing up as a singer you take inspiration from lots of things around you.

hi! i'm fan while being a little bit of musical theater historian on frank wildhorn. actually was recorded it in 1987, but the music video was done in 1989 and didn't get released officially until 1990 (also got a digital remaster) and that album called Highlights from Jekyll & Hyde [Concept] I highly recommend buying the cd on amazon & not iTunes caused they switched the tracks of once upon a dream! p.s: fun fact - it was planned for Broadway way back in 1987 but Black friday (a stock market crash) happened, the investors disappeared along with J&H musical.

1992... then she recorded it in 1997 for its time...
@operaticmickey83095 жыл бұрын
@@llambert6951 your comment is wrong and incorrect...I know my information is correct! have you ever heard of compilation albums or recycled tracks? because Linda Eder has done this about 3 times and own most of her studio albums with the exception two of them. And so much more (1994) - track 10 has I will forget you taken off from The scarlet pimpernel [Concept Album] and was recorded in 1992! it's time (1997) - track number 10 is A candle in the window taken from The Civil War: The complete work & track number 16 Someone like you which is from 1994 recording of Jekyll and Hyde: The complete work. Broadway my way (2003) - has Unusual way & Man of La Mancha (I, Don Quixote) from it's time, are tracks 13 and 14.

I have to give a thumbs down to this lyrically altered version of one of the best songs ever written. The visceral connection of the original lyric; the longing and yearning for love that Lucy feels she will never have and may not deserve is lost in this traditional love song version. The arrangement and Linda's voice are outstanding as always. The change to the lyric is a failure.
@AdamFloro9 жыл бұрын
+SkyWardDude This is not the altered version, this is the original, they altered it for the stage.
@SkyWardDude9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! I stand corrected. And the right change it was.
@AdamFloro9 жыл бұрын
SkyWardDude Yes, I prefer the altered version of most of the songs myself. My favorite iteration of most of the songs is in the 1994 recording with Anthony Warlow. However, I prefer the flow of the stage version.
