Time passes by so slowly when I was a kid in the 70"s and all sorts of different music was on the radio. That radio was on all day, and I don't know if anyone can remember, it had those old valve tubes in it, and there was a "cats eye"..that started glowing and two round knobs left and right, one to find a radiochannel and the other for vollume. And the sound was warm, clear and full..it filled the room..as did that beautifull distinct voice of Linda Ronstadt....she filled that little backroom ..and we all took it for granted..."yeah sure..that's how one should sing... Blue Bayou"....and my first encounter with her voice was there and then. Little did I know then, how special it was...looking back from the year 2023 (I'm getting on)...I now realise today there are not many singers, if any, who could fill her shoes!!

So uplifting to read all these beautiful, personal comments about this woman who made herself and us happy doing what she was born to do. Regret not getting myself to venues that were literally a stone's- throw away to see her live, but I have great hope that I'll have front-row seats in Paradise when she takes her glorified voice on the road again. I most want to hear her sing "Lo Siento Mi Vida" with her beloved father.

Linda has admitted having abortions, I hope she is granted forgiveness. 😅

If you were sincere you wouldn't have posted this idiotic comment. Check your own need for forgiveness. Zealotry is no virtue.

@@deadandburied7626I pray for Ms. Ronstadt with a sincere heart. She is also an admitted atheist. I trust Christ will be merciful, and that He knows all the good and generous things Ms. Ronstadt has done for others and continues to do. As much as she identifies with her Mexican heritage, she has consistently rejected the practice of Catholicism associated with many people of Mexican descent. In her musical memoir, she wrote disparagingly of her early childhood educational experiences in Catholic school. Ms. Ronstadt is a woman of high intellect who came of age during the sexual, cultural, and political upheaval of the 60's and 70's; her world view very much reflects that milieu. She has great interest and respect for the traditions of ordinary people, be they from the Sonoran desert, the mountains of Appalachia, the bayous of Louisiana or the countryside of Ireland. However, she has enormous contempt for those she deems as oppressors, racists, misogynists, etcetera. Some of the comments she has made in interviews or on other occasions have saddened me. For example, she stated that singing with family helped to bridge their political divide, but since she can no longer sing, she only wants to see Democrats. I'd like to think she was joking...I hope she was. Ms. Ronstadt's other character traits: honesty, humor, humility, faithfulness to friends, work ethic, lover of beauty, collaborative spirit, generosity and stoicism in the face of enormous physical hardship are so admirable to me. Ironically, her voice and vast and varied catalog of music has been an instrument of grace in my life and deepened my appreciation of God's creation. The Christmas season will soon be upon us; I so look forward to hearing her sing "Silent Night" and "Ave Maria"-a duet with her beloved friend, Aaron Neville on his long-ago Christmas special. As a fellow human being, I pray that this Advent Ms. Ronstadt will receive Christ into her heart. As a fan, I just thank her from the bottom of my heart for all the joy and comfort her music has given me for more than 50 years!

She was who I aspired to be when I was in my teens back in the 70's. I'd stand in front of the mirror, holding my hairbrush "mic", belting out "Blue Bayou" at the top of my lungs. Lol. Ahhh, memories. Linda, you were the queen as far as I was concerned. I'm sorry for your troubles but know you brought so much joy to so many with your beautiful gift.
