Best Live pipes on the planet. Clear, unadorned, powerful and tender. A songwriter's champion, a mentor to countless musicians, they swarmed around her and yet she didn't bathe in her own reflection. A very rare songbird - hardcore adorable as well. Sigh...

Linda described her father as shy and quiet and herself as shy but noisy. That clicked with me as I feel the same, especially about crowds. Like Linda, I would prefer being with ten people who have known each other for twenty years. Other comments resonated as well. What a wise and beautiful lady. (I met her once when she didn’t have time for a proper conversation. She told me to come back later. I didn’t and I regret feeling too shy to approach her a second time)

She goes from quoting from Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' to describing the life of a musician with specificity: "deciding what guitar & vocal structures you want at an incredibly fast rate of speed." Meanwhile Dan Rather keeps asking about sex, drugs, and why she didn't get married. She's so far above him, yet gracious.

She had such an impact on me when I was younger. I was taking a Spanish History class & did a review on one of her traditional Spanish concerts. Took a vocal class & sang her classic jazz songs. (I remember when she gotta a lot of flack from fans when she stopped doing rock & roll- she didn’t care what others thought - which ironically is the essence of rock n roll). And like her, I didn’t feel I had to marry & for me personally it was a fine choice. And now in my living room I can see her album cover here where she’s sitting in the pig pen- glad she explained that lol- always thought that must have been hard - because we all know pig you- know-what stinks. What she did for art! Haha.

I love her. In reality, most of her biggest hits in the 70s were remakes of 50s or 60s songs. Heatwave and You're No Good are good examples. She went over the top with Blue Bayou(another remake) in the late 70s. Basically she was the Taylor Swift of her day. Her downfall was openly dating the governor of California. She tried to countrify punk rock. It just didn't work.

Yes , just wrote a long comment on the good impact she’s had on people like me-but agree there’s always the other side to these things. She says in the interview she didn’t get too wild BUT there is a true story- when she appeared on The Johnny Cash show- the stage was a bit elevated - and ppl reported back to June Carter C that at rehearsals LR in was in a mini skirt wearing not much underneath. 😂. June immediately took care of that- she always made sure Johnny ‘walked the line’. ! Very well documented story. So that’s a rock n roll story right there for ya.
