Just a tidbit about Andrew Gold that I didn't know, I found on wiki. His mother was Marni Nixon the truly great singer who sang the for in Natali Wood in Westside Story, Debra Carr in The King and I and Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. She was in the same league in my opinion as the better known musical stars as Julie Andrews and Shirley Jones an outstanding talent.

Jake Miller I recently read that marni nixon did the 1st few notes of marilyn monroe's 'diamonds are a girls best friend' (the 'no no no no part)

One of the best all-time voices. Thanks to youtube and other social media apps we can hear those golden pipes carry those sweet notes a thousand times over. I think for the most part that Linda keep herself clean, stayed away from the booze and the drugs. It is a shame that Parkinson's is robbing her and us of her wonder gift that she shared for so many years. I say just say no to getting old. Oops I am already headed down that road.

Yup, 59 years old, just another fact pointing to one obvious conclusion--While there can be "Fun Under The Sun", it's only too brief, and THAT STINKS!!! I hope to see 'Andy' in heaven? Gb bg

Fine band.. fine song. I was greatly saddened by the death of Andrew Gold, his "Never let her slip away" was the cornerstone of my 1970's get them up to dance.! Wonderful song and it remains my all-time fave to this day, against all-comers. I would say.. wasn't Linda Ronstadt just adorable.. those eyes. I love her. I wonder if she knows.? Sigh.. WF

There is more talent contained the dual guitar solo than in entire major hits put out today. No in ear monitors, no vocal fixing, and poor Kenny Edwards chasing his mic around as the stage wobbles, yet nailing the vocal harmonies, try that on for size!
@steveisoldi50662 жыл бұрын
Gotta hand it to Kenny singing such stable vocals into an ever moving mic on a soft stage :)

Both Andrew Gold and bassist Kenny Edwards have left us, and both due to cancer. Too, too sad. As regards Andrew's musical talents however, and perhaps ironically, despite growing up in a house full of classically trained musicians, he couldn't read a note!! LOL!! Yet he could play any string instrument by ear, and was a pretty fair percussionist. I've always been fascinated by that sort of "wild" talent that defies all logic.
@georgescarlett23205 жыл бұрын
When 'Mr. Guitar, Chet Atkins, was once asked in an interview if he could read music, he replied, "Yes, but not enough to Mess Me Up"!! I too am an "Earist". I just never liked HOMEWORK!
