John, was linda succesful on the UK musical charts? I was born in '98, but know mostly about the girls and guys who were succesful during the 50s, Alma Cogan, Teresa, Brewer Doris Day, and Rosemary Clooney, of course

Yeah, it looks like way back then they didn't have all this PC culture crap and wok mentality, and people getting offended at the drop of a hat, and probably a lot less crime in the big cities and oh my goodness, people probably trusted each other more way back then! And yes, Linda Scott has a great voice and maybe she still records!

Wow!!! I liked Linda's songs which I listened to on Top 40 Station CJCA, but I've only ever seen a few pictures of her. This is GREAT, first time seeing her in action ... and I really liked Yessiree. If this clip was actually shot in '62, she would only have been 17 .... more WoW!!! Thanks for this GSMM.

On this day in 1962 {February 2nd} Linda Scott performed "Yessiree" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... Two days later on February 4th the song entered Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #96, five weeks later it would peak at #60 {for 1 week} and it spent seven weeks on the Top 100... As noted above, she performed the song in the movie "Don't Knock The Twist", two months later on April 13th the film would have it's world premier in New York City... Between 1961 and 1964 she had eleven Top 100 records, two made the Top 10; "I've Told Every Little Star" {#3 for 1 week in 1961} and "Don't Bet Money, Honey" {#9 for 2 weeks in 1961}... Besides "I've Told Every Little Star", she had two other charted records with 'Star' in their titles; "Starlight, Starbright" {#44 in 1961} and "Count Every Star" {#41 in 1962}... Linda Scott, born Linda Joy Sampson, will celebrate her 73rd birthday in four months on June 1st {2018}...

As far as female singer shes up near the top for me. She looked way different in later appearances idk if she was just tryin a different look or had surgery she didn't need it gorgeous dont make girls like they did back then. There's a lot of artists who get credit but should be remembered way more from this era..

Thanks for this very fine posting(correct aspect ratio & good resolution)of this superb vocalist doing one of her own compositions...an extremely catchy tune that never caught on the way that it should have...a great little rocker...both the song and Linda.

I believe the older lady in the front of the finger-snapping back-up singers is Dora Hall. A geriatric (by the time) singer that covered many songs on various cheap labels. She is actually a very talented - having started during the Vaudeville days - and in some cases more capable than the artists she covered.
@bferrari86707 жыл бұрын
Dora Hall was dreadful! She only made records because she was married the millionaire who founded Solo cups. And there is no record of her being in this film.
