I was 12 years old at the time Shelly Fabares cut this song and I fell in love with her. And since I have been looking for a woman like her. I did meet many over the 60 years since, but still have not found my sweet blue eyed "Shelley Angel".

What a beautiful song! They don't make songs like this anymore, unfortunately. There was another great song from The Donna Reed Show, "My Dad" by Paul Peterson.

It simply is not possible today, to even begin to appreciate just how big this song was back in the Spring of '62. I was 15 y/o, a 2nd semester Sophomore in Denver, at South High School. ------This song, on then KTLN, 1250 AM, was SO big, IT SEEMED TO BE PLAYED EVERY 30 MINUTES ! In Denver, it was the #2 song of the year on KTLN. --------David Rose's hit song, " The Stripper", was #1 in Denver that year. It seemed to me that at South High, EVERY girl, was singing this song ! But then, there had to be 100 songs written about guys named " Johnny ". VERY popular name ! --------I have the 45, & I admit it------I liked it then, & do so still, today in 2024. It's just a great song. Recorded at Gold Star, with The Blossoms on back-up, & with The Wrecking Crew. 60's teen angst, at it's very best. -------------MJL, 77 y/o

When I first listtened to this song back in the early 1960's as a little boy this is one of the songs that stuck in my mind and favorite for me. I'm in my mid 60's now and hope I hear this song when I ascend into heaven. Music today that young people are listening to since the 1990's are so evil and vile; most of it condescending, racist, sexist and anti-social.
