Dave, another excellent video! I am trying to learn to speak German and your videos are a huge help. I found out I have German ancestry and wanted to try to learn the language if I can. Thank you for all you do with these videos. I like Rammstein and Lindemann, very interesting songs/lyrics. Take care!

Weird that Till is using dark, controversial lyrics. So unlike his work with Rammstein, ya know, like Ich Tu Dir Weh, which Im pretty sure translates to "A basket of happy puppies"

I love watching your translation videos for these songs SO MUCH! I mean, not just because google translate does a terrible job, no no no. You offer so much more to us when you make these videos; you give us insight about German expressions or sayings, the fact that you went into detail explaining that a certain phrase was an older expression you don’t hear often anymore and why it may have been used in this case, you give us insight about the subtleties of the language being used, ie, plural or singular, emphasis on a subject/person/place vs. if something is phrased so it’s left nebulous, vague, undefined, masc/fem/gender neutral specific language and how it could be translated in several ways, implying a play on words I wouldn’t get otherwise, etc.… And THATS the part I’m really interested in when I want something translated. There may be cultural significance to some of what is being said and I want to know that aspect as well! After watching this video, I’ve decided I’m definitely going to become a patron because this is the content I love. Thank you so much 🖤🤍🖤

Hi Dave you are magic, really love the videos! For my German friends I need to point out though....if a lady looks you in the eye and says 'take me in your arms', it is not a hug she is looking for 😁

One of my favourite songs so far, along with the "single set" version of the video. I don't feel he's taking any hard punches & it's so funny when he mugs back at them! I read that the lyrics were based on an older song, the author's name escapes me now. Thanks Dave, I always look forward to your analysis. Good job! : )

As someone that been learning german for year just because of this band I like this video.. its spot own and is easier to understand the terminology which can be confusing at first if you dont recognize it like english or other languages that have expression.. me I translate it roughly in my head an it will sond weird when I do it at first if i dont know I'm hearing a form of expression or poetic terms not standard. Thank you 😁 also I like how you pointed out something that is so true sometimes other languages then you own have ways to say things that if translated to your language roughly dont make sence because your language dosent quite have a word for it and I love it. And just saying when I say a rough or raw translation I mean taking the words from german and translating them with berlely any grammer durations and just saying them in english as broadly as they translate example mein Hertz brennt... in ger roughly translated to english is my heart burns... but since in English it's just sounds like your haveing heartburn lol.. not your heart is literally on fire.. like the term means in rammstein songs. So in english it sounds funny also for someone that likes the language and always loved learning it I love these differences.

When all the videos for this album were coming out, fans developed this theory that they're all connected to eachother. And after reading the lyrics to this song, and seeing all the videos, I believe the videos are showing Till in Hell, being punished for all the women he tortured in his life. The people torturing him are actually demons, and the scenes with the women are all flashbacks to things he did in real life. That would explain the bizarre settings and scenarios. I think only the Frau & Mann video takes place in real life, and the rest take place in the afterlife. It makes sense with the title too. It is a concept album about torturing women.

@@DefinitelyGerman The Machinists Of Joy is a really good album. I first heard of them in the '90s. They used to cover other artists a lot. They made a Metallica cover album that had several songs from ...And Justice for All called A Tribute to Metallica. Too Much History has a lot of good songs also. I just got Vision 2020 Vision and haven't listened to it all the way through, but what I've heard is good.

@@DefinitelyGerman have you listened to the pain version ? it's the last song on the album, not a remix, just a different, more emotional take on the song i guess
@jyocum35 жыл бұрын
@@teenyteeniee Weird that you think the pain version is more emotional. I found it to be the opposite. The original has more freedom in terms of lyrical delivery, whereas the pain version is more right on the rhythm. Plus the emotion after the interlude is way more prevalent in the original version. And I think I just like the tango in the original one more.

Copulation appetite would probably translate to sexual appetite in English
@DrewNorthup3 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about the whole line. If I bother to try to match the syllable count I get 'mpletely 'bsessed 'nsatiable lust which if sung in English would get filled in by the listeners mind, presuming they're a long-term or native speaker, to "completely obsessed insatable lust". Skipping the "by" is intentional, as it is implicit in the construction due to context.

I love Lindemann as a singer but... No is No. This is the reason I can't appreciate him as a man too. What a pity.
@dw3004 жыл бұрын
It's a song, or a story. It didn't actually happen, and you can't assume that's his real life persona. Also, does the video not show exactly what happens to rapists, and isn't that a good thing to dissuade people?
@robertaninfamoraraimondo13084 жыл бұрын
@@dw300 Well, the text seems to be structured as it is autobiographical, and I'm just sticking on it. If it isn't... Better, good for him, but it is a mistake of the writer providing such a personal, subjective approach, that gives an autobiographical mood, to a text that finally doesn't intend to be this. Not sure mine, in that case. But actually the lyrics are a sort of public answer to critics about his attitude, placed in this way. I'm just sticking on them, without assuming anything by myself. Of course I hope you are right and it is just a random story, definitely! Maybe it is just a song about sexual harassment, from the point of view of the offender who trying to justify himself? This would be very interesting, for sure. I will search more informations, an interview would be perfect, he has released many about the meaning of his songs.

Ugh, anyone who's read about Till knows he's not some woman abuser. Just a very disturbed genius. Dave is right. And if you read the lyrics and watch all the videos, you will see the ENTIRE album is like this. Not just this one song. I showed some of the videos to a friend, and she believes the videos are showing him being punished in Hell for all the women he's tortured. And if you analyze the details of everything, it makes complete sense.
