I read Elvira's book and heard how Maila sent goons to Elvira's gigs as Elvira to heckle and intimidate her and she sent her nude photos to a network that was offering to do an Elvira cartoo and got the production cancelled before it even got underway. She was very petty and you'd think Vampira had the rights to anyone becoming a horror host despite numerous people horror hosting between Vampira's run and Elvira's career. She cared too much about making someone else fail than being supportive of horror hosts.

Actually, Charles Addams is, creator of the Addams Family. Vampira was discovered at a costume part dressed as Morticia. But she totally made it her own and came up with that character that Elvira completely ripped off. Also, you said she never complained, that's also not true... She tried to sue Elvira and the people involved with the show for stealing her character. She unfortunately lost 😞 That being said, I completely *LOVE* Vampira and feel like she doesn't get the recognition/appreciation she deserves. It's unfortunate that none of her shows exist anymore because if there were a DVD box set of her show, she'd be A LOT more well known

Though she got Vampira from a comic character as well as another, you can't tell how they'd act in movement, or what they'd be like outside of a single drawing. So Vampira deserves all of the accolades and respect for bringing a character like that to life, obviously. She's a legend and technically, they wouldn't know how to do it if not for her.

There was a picture of a Korean actress whom is known for her "paleness" next to a caucasian actress and the caucasian was at least 2 to 3 shades paler and not even known for that. And koreans are usually quite known for being "pale". So I am not sure it is accurate that Asians are paler than caucasians, even with having dark hair being more common. It just appears so because of their natural contrast, the stereotype, possibly filters and lack of comparison. Edit: Also Asians is a big term, I'll assume we mean more east Asians, as for example Indian people aren't very pale.

Elvira was quite interesting. I actually took care of her cousin after he had a stroke. He had been a lead designer of the F-18A Hornet fighter jet. He was at our facility in Vegas, and had many photos of Elvira on his wall there. Many celebrities also came to visit. He was a very sharp guy, and a nice one at that.

I had never heard of Vampira, so I don't really have a reaction to her other than I recognize all the good she did to trail-blaze the way for Elvira and Morticia later on (whom I both adore) and to pioneer the gothic -fem-fatale archetype. As for Elvira and Morticia I have decided to headcanon that they are sisters or maybe cousins. The Addams family appeared in Scooby-Doo, and Scooby-Doo appeared in the DC universe, and Elvira lived in the House of Mysteries which is in the DC universe. So yeah, all tied together in a neat little, headcanon bow.

I'm sorry to say that I'm old enough to have watched all three actress' when they first came out. Vampira scared me as a small child. Morticia, I had a grade school crush on. Elvira, I fell in love with. They brought the Creature Feature and or Friday Night Frights monster movies to life with their insight and humor. They made it fun to be apart of the audience and see things through their eyes. I have found only one host left of the late night Horror Host of horror movies - Svengoolie, on METV, channel 20. It would be nice to revive the unholy trinity with new blood to carry on. Thank-you Lindsay Koski. A well done video. It was my pleasure to watch it.

You can see the original Vampira in "Plan 9 from Outer Space." That was one of the last major things she did before her show biz career fizzled. She basically got blacklisted over some stupidity which would hardly get anybody in trouble today! The best version of "Plan 9" to get is the Legend Films(?) DVD edition. They might have it on Blu ray now. It's both restored black and white and has a decent colorized version on the same disc. "Plan 9" is hardly the worst film made... I'd say "The Last Jedi" is spectacularly worse, "Battlefield Earth" is pretty bad, and I've seen my share anime and any number of Western animated films and TV series that are pretty worthless, too. "Plan 9" is at least good for a laugh! Vampira also appears in Tim Burton's "Ed Wood" movie. She's (I believe) played by an actress who was Tim Burton's girlfriend at the time.

Gosh, you're absolutely right. I have to say, as a little kid when the series first came out, there wasn't much scary about the Addams family. She was more like my mother, rather than Mrs. Cleaver, who was so angelic, that even at 5 I knew she was just a TV mom. My mom was quick-witted and she had barbed-tongue. But if you treated her with respect and love, she would pay it back tenfold. Just like Morticia. I thought she was so funny giving the "normal" cousin dating advice.

Just got into all this after seeing Elvira's movie. I just watched it for the first time and fell in love. The three characters definitely influenced each other. I can't decide which I like the best. I don't want to think that one ripped off the other, but I can see how (Vampira) one can get possessive over an image. Elvira has a young fresh feel while the others are very old fashioned. Goth goddesses. I guess I like who I knew about first, 1) Morticia, 2) Elvira and 3) Vampira, who I need to get to know more.

I was more of a Lily Munster fan than Morticia, but this was a nice breakdown for the evolution of a similar social construct's different facets (sexuality, death, motherhood, etc). To associate female sexuality (where human life is created) with death and the macabre is paradoxical. But all of these women made a living playing off our dark fascinations in a comedic way, so more power to 'em! :)

Thats Thanatos (death instict) and Eros (life/ sex instict)= very Freudian! But these wonderful characters played them for laughs, and did it very well. I sometimes wonder if some of the risque scenes/dialog ,so funny and popular in the 1960s-1980s could be re- done today in our PC world? But then again, there would be more overt sex and nudity on contemporary premium cable TV channels.(lol)

Of the two sumptuous Morticia's, my fave is the TV version. Gotta love Elvira. Vampira was awesome and WOW she ratcheted up on corset training!!! Aw man! Lilly Munster wasn't included :( Watching these Goth Queens as a kid and young man is what cultivated my love of goth girls/women.
