Before the Candy Floss Booby (Jim Longmore's Mini Lure)

This fly was the inspiration for the Candy Floss Booby. In the video I tell the story behind what has become simply the most effective Stillwater fly in my box the Candy Floss Booby. I don't really fish this pattern anymore but doing the videos has prompted me to tie a few up for the coming season. An ideal pattern for those just beginning to tie flies for the first time. Only a few ingredients and you will have a very effective mini lure that is competition legal.

Hi Lindsay, hope you are well. Your story about the fly reminds me … many years ago our club was fishing on Menteith and our boat was doing ok but as it was for the club champion we wanted to do more. One boat of ours in front seemed to catching or getting more offers so when they motored back up we shouted to ask what fly was doing the damage. Blue Jay Matuka they shouted and that got a response that was not very gentlemanly … and we ignored them. At the weigh in we asked to see the fly … and it was … a blue Jay Matuka!!! Atb Jim

Thanks Jonny, it's a bit of a fish mash to be honest. The videos up to today were mostly shot on a Lumix GH7 with Sigma 100mm macro lens. I have just upgraded to a Lumix G80so I hope the quality is going to improve. As for the editing thats dead simple IMovie on a Mac Book. To be honest there is not a great deal of editing goes on I chop up the bit at the front and then the rest just flows......usually!

Lindsay Simpson very odd I can click on it and even like it but I just get the error no stream tap to retry then when I tap it a picture of the fly is on screen but no video
