Upavon Fly Fishing Compact Tying Station (Review after six months)

This is a short review of the Upavon Compact Tying Station, exclusive to Upavon Fly Fishing. upavonflyfishing.co.uk/shop/o... Made from high density foam with a non slip rubber base, this tying station is lightweight, easily transported and stored when out of use. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
Houses up to 6 tools and 18 thread spools
Dimensions are 38cm x 28cm and fits vice bases up to 19cmx13cm
Features a fly drying console which holds up to 15 flies
5 bottle holders made to accommodate the popular sized varnishes and resins.
Hook and tool wells to store those outsized items
Requires basic assembly

A well designed piece of useful kit. The time saved During setting up probably equates to at least six more flies in the boxes per session

These should sell well. I was skeptical of the foam at first. When you lifted the loaded station with only a very slight bend, my mind was changed. On a secondary note, you should see if you can buy the design of your vise. I would be an investor in building them. I’m in the US or I would try to find out who owns the design.

Hi Jeff, the vice was designed and made by Jan Tvrdek. He does not keep so well nowadays and stopped production. Not sure if he would be prepared to sell the design.

Try the fly tidy buy Lee James its fantastic, its the one Tim Joyce and other use. I love mine.

Looks good but my significant other gave me the spare room for tying so I can have my chaos tying bench without the guilt. I got a friend to knock together a new pedestal for me out of a 12×8×1 inch piece of plate steel, guaranteed not to slide!!!!. Keep em coming Lindsay!! ATB Chris.

That is a very interesting material to use! Personally I really like it. I am fortunate enough to have a large tying room about 13'x18' but in a previous life I had to set up in a portable kit. Good review!

Looks like it could be very handy for people with limited space. I do notice that your tying station looks permanent over there behind you? lol. Not many would get away with that! Me, I’m on my own so I’m ok.

I pal, I use this it home. I brought it into my office to do the review. I am lucky that I have a nice big office it is where I do the bulk of my fly tying and all of the videos.
