Great video. Can't forget the cat booby. Catches a lot of fish and always saves the blank.

Thanks for always providing great videos. Although there are limitations due to the competition, these are definitely some good flies. What's even more interesting is that I already have quite a few of these patterns in my fly box. Haha! Once again, thank you, and if you get the chance, please introduce the flies that were excluded because of the competition rules, maybe as a bonus.

Will have a think, how to work that in.

Absolutely fabulous. Completely agree that confidence is a huge factor. Always fish better when expecting it to go tight at any moment. I would have a hares ear nymph and black booby in my top 10. Possibly uv white and gold sparkler booby

Another great vlog pal. I think that blending the marabou on the Candy Floss Boobie is more effective as solid colours are seldom found in nature also the blend as it moves in the water gives subtle changes further attracting the fish. The vicar can also be modified for specific waters and conditions body can be red, orange, or olive. The collar can also be changed red, orange, green, black, or gold. A red thread body with red or white collar a “cardinal.” Or for a head office effect. White with silver or gold collar. “The Pope.”

Great video. Essential when there's such a plethora of flies available. Interestingly I was unaware that you originated the Candy Floss booby. I was led to believe someone else was responsible. Reminder to myself...there is no substitute for good research. I do feel it's important to give credit where credit is due. My story will change moving forward👍As an aside, it also appears you were fishing with the Soldier Palmers as I was leaving service. I fished between 86 and 92. If you're at the BFCC in Feb, I'll try to catch up for a chat

Hi Alun, I claim very little in life but my children are mine and I came up with the Candy Floss booby. We must have crossed over as I first went to an Army event in 1990 as a Cpl. I got more heavily involved when I left the service in 1996.

The Candy Floss Boobie is in my view better with a blended wing. The blend as it moves gives subtle changes further enticing the fish to take. The standard Vicar is great but can be modified to suit your favourite water and conditions. Either the collar or the base thread can be changed. In difficult conditions a black thread with a black holo collar. Or black holo body with a silver or other collar. As in a 12 full black holo body on point, thread body 14/16s on droppers with a silver black, or red collar. The collar can be tinsel or floss.

What the best way to fish the candy booby and what line? Cheers
@lindsayiflyfishАй бұрын
It can be fished in many different ways, one of my favourite ways is on its own 10' tippet on a DI7 sweep line.
