An alternate for the buzzer wrap is white uv floss or a few strands of crystal flash twisted before you add a drop of resin to the floss with a needle of fine brush then blast it with uv light before adding the hackle.

Excellent ty Lindsey ,The Brenig bars of silver will certainly like that as they are currently going mad for small black hoppers and subsurface black small flies.Regarding the whip finish tool you may find it easier to hook the thread into the small hook of the arm before the shoulder as the thread is more secure then ,just the way I do it and I am nearly up to the speed that Davie Mcphail whips finishes

Hi Lindsay, with her ladyships conditions this is week three for us!! I think it could well be the end of July before we get into boats and then there will be long delays due to demand from stir crazy anglers!! Im quite lucky as we have a local fishery where I am a member so hopefully once the lockdown is relaxex I will get fishing … and try out the dozens of patterns I am tying to avoid boredom!! Stay healthy … Jim

Nice little pattern there Lindsay. Definitely going to give this one a try. Well done for getting a grip on the whip finisher. You’ll find that on the finish you can build the head to the shape you want it if it wasn’t quite there. Thanks for another one dude..

Fantastic looking fly, and it's surely going to find a way into my fly box. As for the whip finisher, don't hold it so close to the hook, back off just a tad allowing a bit more thread out to give you more room to use it , and it'll make it easier to unhook the tool from the thread.
@lindsayiflyfish4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have snapped the thread on more than one occasion, very frustrating.

The fly is a good one. The cheeks look handy, so will try that. This fly works well as I've tied something similar also like the cock fibre instead of pheasant for the tail. Great to see you in about the whip finisher too. Stick at it mate.

I've had a few on crunchers at Carman , they seem to like them there. I'm looking for a thin strong thread for tying in deer hair Lindsay, my uni snaps off too often and my big pillow is being used way to often!!. Could you send me a link please. Keep the vids coming please as it looks like fishing won't be an option for a while. Hopefully the borders will be open for my fishing holiday in Scotland/England in August. ATB Chris

Hi Chris, I like the Nano silks for tying in Deer Hair. There are lots of different ones but my favourites are the ones from Fish On and the Veevus GSP The white in 50D you can colour it with marker pens if you need a different colour. Hope that helps pal. www.fishonproductions.co.uk/ultimate_tying_silk/fish_on_ultimate_tying_silk.html www.flytyingboutique.com/threads-tinsel-and-wire/gsp-thread/veevus-gsp-thread/

Another great pattern to try thank you. Congratulations on mastering the whip finish tool. Do you feel now it has its place or just pointless? It think helps me shape the head on small flies when you need to prevent thread build up but lots of times I still need to use the fingers.
@lindsayiflyfish4 жыл бұрын
I think I need to become much more proficient at using it before making a judgment. If I was not doing videos I doubt very much I would have bothered. It does not seem to have impacted my tying in any great way. Still, I want to encourage others into taking part and having a go the least I can do is learn the tools of the trade.
