Alaska isn’t the best place. Although it has a strong ski racing community, there’s only one major ski resort: Alyeska in Girdwood, about 50 miles south of Anchorage. It’s where I learned to ski race. The lower 48 states have much more in the way of offer for ski resorts and racing programs.
