Lindy Rigging has been putting fish in the boat for much longer that I have been alive. Although it is an old school technique the specifics are what puts more fish in the boat! In this video we are summer walleye fishing in northern Wisconsin. I am fishing deep water flats with a Lindy rig and a crawler. I talk about how fast I like to troll as well as how I like to rig up. Summer walleye fishing requires a large bag of tricks and techniques. Lindy rigging is one of those presentations that can be deadly effective. Hopefully this video helps you put more fish in the boat. Thanks for watching!

I’m 71 years old fish mainly for walleye. I fish Lake Erie as well as inland lakes in Ohio and Pa. I consider myself a average walleye fisherman. But watching your videos has definitely made me a better fisherman. Just had a fantastic day on Piedmont Lake in Ohio using some of your methods. Thanks.

I'm now referring to you as Mr. Walley - Love your tips, the way you simplify and break it down. To say nothing of the way you set the hook.

Thanks Tom, great video. I have been fishing the Lindy Rig for a very long time and I agree it is still one of the most effective ways to fish for walleye. Keeping it simple, and basic will catch walleyes when nothing else will. Guys who don't use this method are missing out on some great fishing, especially when the fish seem to be fussy or uninterested in other presentations. It's a 'go-to' method when all other methods or techniques are not working. Thanks again for sharing those details with us.

Awesome fish Tom! I would be really interested in a video on how you organize your waypoints on your humminbirds are you throwing down 25-50 WP's per trip and going back and deleting them or do you have a system for keeping the good ones and erasing the ones that are only relevant for that trip?

i was just lindy rigging yesterday. I prefer to use the lindy no snag weights and have a clevis so I can change the weight size without re tying it. I drift troll if the wind direction is right, I will also anchor, cast out and sit. Its also my go to first choice set up for shore fishing

I've recently been using Lindy Slick Sticks for weights rather than bullet weights or traditional bottom bouncers when I'm fishing Ontario/Northern MN lakes that are a lot of jagged granite and sharp boulders. They seem to get stuck less than either of them and they pull out a lot easier as well. I snag a little less often but I haven't lost one to the rocks yet.

I recommend the rp knot (or improved Albright) for braid connections, especially to the mono backing. Not as easy to tie while on the water as the uni knot, but a nice slim profile that doesn’t get stuck in the guides as easy.

I caught a few with this technique today. Except I gut hooked a little one and foul hooked the other two. I also missed a few. Think I need to work on my hookset timing more. I was using worms pinched off the tail. Hmmm, I also caught a few with a drop shot rig. Those were very satisfying hook sets. They sure thump that thing. So much fun. No keeper's, though. Then the bite shut down at 10:30am. Water temp was 55. Just realized I was nose hooking the worms. I'll try threading it on further next time as well.

Do you let line out every time, I'm a hit confused as in that presentation due to when the fish bites the bait is moving and as soon as the fish bites your suggesting go let everything loose. It seems to be effective but wouldnt your bait immediately drop especially if it's a short striking fish. This is assuming the bait is in the fish mouth?
