Been trying out your go-to’s often and I do like the results. Thanks brother. Never noticed the high/low cuts on the Tile reverb for some reason (just kind of threw it in, I guess), so will be going back in to test that out, as well. Have to tell you I appreciate the differences between you and some other the Helix guys here. You all are consistently getting great tones, often in different ways, which, to me, demonstrates how much the Helix offers us and it’s also a great lesson in letting your ears find what works for you, which you talk of here. Well done as always, my friend. Great stuff.

You have some great tricks! It's funny, everyone got so excited about the dynamic ambience in 3.5 but the tiles dies just as good job, if not better. And I never saw someone do that thing with the kinky boost before you.. Its an excellent little trick.

This was helpful. I was surprised to see the Kinky boost and a verb between the amp and can. That was new to me and after A/B checks...it's really good. Do you do this for cleaner tones? Do you have videos for this subject for cleaner/edge of breakup tones? I'll look for that.

Cheers mate , yeah there’s plenty of helix videos on the channel- however if you look at my latest video , since the 3.8 update , the kinky boost is now not really needed on the newer amps .
@adamdagosto570

Holy crap!! It works everywhere and on all amps. At a minimum the boost does the biggest trick. What is going on? It's not just making it louder and therefore "better" there's something else going on on the texture and fingers. It's magic!!

Good tips. Selecting the right Cab and High Cut works wonders for me. I've been really enjoying the Moo)))n Cab combined with the Brit Plexi Jump Amp you mentioned in a previous video. Massive, yet articulate lows combined with slicing highs are fun. Thanks

Very useful vid. Thank you! I appreciate you putting this out there for us first time Helix users. In my case... i get very solid tone with my Jackson US Soloist... but its been hit/miss with my Yngwie signature strat. I obviously want a clean boosted tone... singing distortion/gain, and i'm just finding that with alot of the marshall amp types.. i'm getting brittle, undwhelming tones. One thing you showed me was early on in the vid, how right after you set the noise gate in the input... you adjust the Guitar in to 1M ohm... that made a big difference in the volume and brilliance of the overall tone on the strat. Any other pointers on getting a good yngwie, saturated but clean gain tone would be appreciated. best!

I just can't seem to figure this thing out. I have tried 6 different guitars, an FRFR speaker, and a SD amp/evh cab combo. I have followed multiple guides to a T (including this one) as well as tinkering on my own. Yet my helix sounds like absolute garbage. Crazy how all you guys get solid tones almost immediately.

You have to set up presets at gig volume. This isn’t like an amp. It’s capable of full range. A guitar amp has major built in frequency limits that keep the tone very close to usable at any volume.

Hi Jonny! Just curious, do you mind to expand on how you came up with running the boost and verb between amp and cab.(the logic behind it, or was it an accident, lol) I'm trying it with the placater, and it really adds some good mids. I do have to re EQ with some added treble to keep it from being too dark. Thanks!

The kinky boost I’ve done with real amps , with a clean boost pedal or an EQ . The Verb is Just a sometimes “ if it works “ thing .

@@JonnyLeeguitarist thanks for the reply. Makes total sense, now that I think about it. I've used a boost or EQ in the loop for a solo bump. It does give the amp something extra when it's on.

That's really helpful. It's about time I downloaded some of your stuff and started messing with them rather than watching your videos whilst eating my breakfast. I noticed that you've started sticking boost and verb between amp and speaker. What do you think it gives you in that placement?
@JonnyLeeguitarist
@JonnyLeeguitarist Жыл бұрын
The best way to answer that question is , download it and try it , then turn them off . It’s a massive difference without the kinky boost there , night and day better ( to me ) . The reverb is more a taste thing .

@@JonnyLeeguitarist followed what you did step by step on my own gear. Loving the results. Getting a real Pornograffitti vibe out of it whenever I pull a pinch harmonic. The way you have set that cab has transformed the sound. I've been using the 2204 Mod as my main sound but with greenbacks. You said a couple of videos ago that you were getting better results with a different cab and I think you've sold me on it. I'm going to switch it up on my main sound and adjust the sag and bias. Cheers man. There are a couple of other videos I put in my "must give that a try" list so I'll probably be over there in half an hour ;) Thanks again.

Another thing to watch out for is too much low-end with the EQ after the amp. We all have a habit of really overdoing it to make up for the fact our tone isn't coming from a real physical space, so we pile on the 110-150Hz trying to make up for that, and we end up with something that just sounds like a mess and doesn't have any articulation to it. I'm also a stickler for my midrange--I like mine balanced and clear. Nothing honky, squawky or nasal for my rhythm tones; with leads, I'm a bit more forgiving.

Some unsolicited advice... don't ask me to "hit the subscribe button" if I'm new at the very first of the video... At that point, I have no idea whether your channel is awesome or crap. Better to ask at the end... "If you liked this video and found it helpful, you might like my other stuff, too, so hit the 'subscribe' button and the bell for notifications so you won't miss more content like this." WAY more effective.... as for me, I am NEVER going to hit the subscribe button when I'm new and 10 seconds in as I have no idea whether I like the channel.
