Badass tone brother, just picked up the Helix, a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 700 and 2 Mesa oversized 412 cabs. Trying to dial in a good tone in my DAW sure is easier than trying to dial in tones to my rig. Followed, you deserve way more followers than you currently have! Keep rocking the new videos and thanks!

I recently switched to using the "Simple EQ" block (+12dB Level; EQ to taste) early in the chain. Way cleaner of a boost, and hits the (virtual amp) just as hard. I'm liking the results much more than using a drive model set clean. Sounds more natural palm muted, and doesn't introduce any high end fizz (which I found always happened with the drive models).
@NickHillMakesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Right on! Great experimenting. I too have messed with an EQ before the amp. I keep going back to the drive pedals though. Something pleasing to my ear about it.

Woah I never would have thought to use the Revv Purple with the gain at 5 and the aggression off. Sounds great man!

dude you are a sick guitarist. For some reason though i found that it made my tone tighter when i set biasx lower than bias.

Thanks for another great video. I'm sure this wasn't your first one with the Solar guitar but I just received my first Solar and could not get it to sound good until I tried the settings you showed here. Thanks for saving my purchase! lol

Nice tone, Nick! I think I like this better than the Badonk ;) Agree that the change to "buttons" in the parameters is nice. Makes more sense than the previous sliders. Looking forward to maybe hearing the solo-lead tones. That tape delay is one of my favorite efx.

It's a good one, thanks a lot. I had to choose another OH IR from my libary but thats also fine. I found the OH 412 Trad V30-MB1 L Modern3 as a good replacement.

Great vid as always. Have you try the Miko's plugin by ML sound lab? Great for creating infinite ir for all tool. :)

Played with it only for a bit. I found it took too long to land on a sound I liked which could just be me but I’ve learned that if stuff distracts me from writing and creating music, I get impatient.

Nick, Any thoughts on seven string guitars? Do you own one or have you thought about using one?
@NickHillMakesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hey man! How are you? I’ve only fiddled around on the seventh string a few times. I’m not a huge fan mainly because I don’t know that my hands are big enough to comfortably play for any sort of decent duration. I do however love low tune guitars, so I tend to gravitate towards baritones. I love having six strings, I know how everything is laid out with my rudimentary knowledge of the guitar, and baritones have a longer scale that is far more conducive to internation overall play ability and tone for lower lower tunings. Of course this is all my subjective opinion
@sjsphotog4 жыл бұрын
@@NickHillMakesMusic yeah I never played a 7 strng and would be lost to have to relearn everything. im sure it takes a while
@juanvaldez54224 жыл бұрын
Stephen Soukup you are just taking a trad. 6 and adding an extra lower 5th interval .. the low b. Fret it the same. That’s the way I think of it anyway
@jwilly10754 жыл бұрын
@@NickHillMakesMusic sorry for a late response back , so many dont respond back . Thank you for that. I found that Ibanez and music man 25.5 scale sevens are great for transitioning back and forth between 6 and 7 strings. The necks are a thin profile. I tune to drop A. Its a blast! I do like having the tightness of the E through E being standard tuned. I also love other low tunings on 6s and baritones as well. Im a big fan of your tutorials on mixing and helix tones. Not sure if I love the Badonk as much as you, but its cool ! Keep up the good work. Take care.

Stomp has more DSP power and too to my options. Depends on your needs. Be sure to compare and see if you’ll be missing the additional horsepower and IO options.
