This video has a good disposition, it moves along at a reasonable pace. There do not seem to be any videos that explain the terminology, BUT that is in the PDF Manual from the line 6 website. As a new user just the term " Global Settings" raises a question? New users would be interested in a break down of just the TERMS of the HX Stomp, i believe!

Nice video Tyler. Line 6 really made the Helix so easy to get around and program, unlike Zoom IME. A bit of a learning curve as you say, but very fast to lean. I’m sure you know this but you can set the Volume knob to only adjust the headphone out, so you dont have to worry about it effecting the main out level. Helps keep things consistent.

Definitely, I looked really dumb at first in the Yamaha Music London Store as i thought I’d know exactly what was going on coming from a Floor - I didn’t 😅 But buying one and getting to grips with it didn’t take long and I’d now say I’m pretty “fluent” on both! I did know that, but I like that knob there just in case, particularly for drives etc, you never know how much volume you really need, despite the perceived volume boost. T

One more thing is that one thing I'd like to see is a demonstration of how to assign a looper to all presets as is recommended if I just want to choose a preset, record a jam track, save it then play to it. One video said to save the looper to FS1 and another to FS3 which I didn't understand what their argument for each was. Bottom line, other videos have confused me so I would appreciate your help. Thanks!
@TylerSpicer4 жыл бұрын
I can definitely help out with this! 2 things I want to be clear on: do you want the looper to be there by default (this isn’t as simple) or are you happy to load the block in? Just so it’s clear - you can’t keep a track in a block, so if you create a loop, it won’t be there next time you turn the HX back on if you turn it off in between. (I’m 90% sure on this from memory - though will double check!) The FS doesn’t matter, it’s totally just up to your preference. T

Thanks for the video . How many effects is someone limited to in the stomp? You mentioned more than one can be merged into a switch, is there a limit to that? Can the effects once merged still be edited or are they saved permanently as is unless reset? Or for example can amps be merged freely or is there a Limit? I see there is an 8 switch version but I’m confused to the benefit. I’m wondering if it’s easy to “max out” the effects and amp combinations? One last question, can you still get a realistic bass tone out of this or do you recommend a real amp to get a rounder fatter tone? When Iv heard audio in guitar/bass with these units, Frankly it all sounds really compressed and thin compared to a real setup . Iv not recorded instruments myself yet but I wonder if one could also just run a bass into some eq and compressor pedals and then run that into an interface directly? Without a helix? Can that be done? I’m sorry for all the questions but hopefully I can figure this out to quicken my learning curve . I actually plan on recording an album and sending it to a real mixer but when it comes to DI stuff and bass I’m a total newb. I just want the best sound but am curious about this pedal to some degree. I’d appreciate your help! Thanks

Thanks for the video - it’s a great help! Do you have any plans to make a video to explain how to level match your presets on the HX Stomp? I struggle to find the best way to ensure presets are a consistent volume. I tend to have a massive volume difference between when the HX Stomp is bypassed completely, when I first open a blank preset and when I am using a custom-made or existing presets. I just wondered if you have come across this and how you solved it? Also ideally getting the perfect recording level when using it as an audio interface ~-18dBfs average. Thanks.

How can I set a foot switch to bypass the entire pedal? First thing is to incorporate it into my pedalboard.
@TylerSpicer3 жыл бұрын
The best way would be to assign every block that you loaded to one footswitch, almost like a kill switch. Alternatively have a blend/aby pedal in the chain. It really depends on how many fx blocks you can see yourself using. I’ve never needed to bypass it entirely. I’ll have to give it a try as I’m not sure if you assign them all to one switch if you can also assign them to a second footswitch to control individuals. Other ways I can think of would be to set the tuner so signal still passes through when it’s engaged which is easily done on the tuner page. And lastly a parallel path chain with gain blocks on each and both assigned to the same switch. This would enable you to switch from a path full of effects to an entirely clean one, if you set both gain blocks to completely off in terms of volume. You’d need one on when you assigned it to the foot-switch and the other to be off and assign it to the same footswitch. You can then easily switch the two paths on and off. Hope that makes some sense! I might have a play and do a video on it, if it helps? T

@TylerSpicer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! In all honesty, I don't believe you can make the tuner instant. As an alternative, I would suggest putting a gain block and assigning it to foot-switch two with the gain all the way down at the end or beginning of your chain. That way it will act as a virtual kill switch. Let me know if that helps? T

Not sure if you've figured it out yet but just in case - you go to the Global Settings, select the footswitch icon and from there you can change footswitch 3 to whatever you want to use it for. In my case, I don't need the tuner or tap tempo so I made footswitch 3 just another stomp switch.
