I won’t be very original here: I am a tube amp guy. I presently own a Fender blues junior/ like/ « clone » and I used to drive it with a Hugues and Kettner tube preamp in front of the amp. Let me tell you it sounds great… 2 tube preamp in series with a tube power amp is magic… Then I bought an HX stomp 2 weeks ago, used around 525$ US. I wanted to have more options (the pedals in the HX stomp are great). I now plug the HX in the effect return (not the 4 cable method) and wow, same magic, harmonics, etc, but with all the pedals I can dream of. The HX stomp in a tube power amp sounds even better than all I heard before coming from my tube amp. Very happy customer, no signal loss, all the harmonics are there and maybe more.

Right now, my guitar goes into four pedals, then in stereo to two amps. Somehow, my cables are always tangled and the power supply is always twisted. I love the thought of having this and plugging into a powered speaker for the simplicity

I had all the pedals and switcher Gigrig g2. Got rid of them all and the hassle that comes with them like power and cabling etc. Couldn’t be happier with the helix. It’s an amazing product. And I can use it with my Marshall jvm or just on it’s own. I also have the power cab plus and it’s excellent

One feature I would love is the ability to edit names. I can never remember the copyright avoiding pseudo-names applied and would love to be able to rename mine to what they actually model.
@danielbarth5 жыл бұрын
You mean the modules themselves? Because the presets can be named easily. Aren't the amps etc. named after their real world counterparts?
@scottydogg2785 жыл бұрын
@@danielbarth To avoid copyright issues, they rename the amp modules to something supposed to be easily identifiable but different - e.g. Pv Panama is a Peavey 5150, Brit Plexi BRT is a Marshall Plexi on the Bright Channel, Tweed are Fender Amps etc.

considering an HX instead of buying a Strymon Big Sky and Timeline. Im a bedroom recording type player, and will use the direct line features as well, but for live, I just want to limit the size of my board. Am I going to be disappointed with the sound quality vs. the other digital effects companies? This will also save me like $500
@Erik_Nordlund5 жыл бұрын
Dan Sherwood I don’t know if you’ve made a decision, but I’m currently considering getting one to replace my Strymon Mobius. I find that the Strymon stuff can be a little too utopian/ideal/refined, and it loses some of the character of some of the pedals it emulates. Plus this thing can do a lot depending on what you might want to do in the future.

Love the video! Very helpful. Do you feel that the HX Stomp changes the natural sound of your amp compared to “analog” pedals? I have a hx stomp and am getting a two rock, but I don’t want the stomp to mess with my amp sound, so I’m considering going back to normal pedals. Thoughts?
@andrewjackson96544 жыл бұрын
Esteban Nieves I have the rack. I love my amps and pedals. But I buy a lot of stuff because I have #gas. Nothing imo beats a great amp and great pedals. But if you try this with an amp put it thru the return input not thru the front. Use the cheat sheet as well. If it comes with it? Mine did. I’m assuming it comes with this as well. It takes some tweaking and I still need a pedal like an overdrive, distortion or fuzz in the loop return in front of an amp block. It makes it sound and feel better. Others use it thru an interface, computer and monitors or a line6 cabinet that has different choices of cabs. I’m not doing that. Watch videos that show you how to use it. If you don’t want your amps sound to change I’d personally stick with pedals. If you do get it and don’t want your amps sound to change. Do not use the amp sims. Just use the FX. Which kindve makes no sense if you want just FX either as I said stick with pedals or just get the HX effects not the stomp.
