Thank you Tony for this. Recently bought the Pod Go and I have a Boss Katana so this was very helpful. They do compliment each other very well to create some lovely tones. I'm playing a Mexican Squire Strat modded with a set of Seymour Duncan Everything Axe pickups.

Nice vid - you could also come out of the Amp Out and set the global to 'pre Cab/IR' but I'd disable them in any patch anyway to be sure.
@steviesavage7 ай бұрын
Just a note that the Katana can be used as an FRFR if you have a model with the Power Amp in jack on the rear, therefore in this case you could leave the IR's active on the PodGo. Using it this way disables the entire Preamp section of the Katana. Mine is the 50 Mk2 EX.
@BrianAndAmandaDoStuff4 ай бұрын
I plug mine in through the power amp in as well. Depending on my mood and the situation, I toggle the IR's off and on, depending on what I'm going for at the moment. The POD Go and Katana are a great combo used this way IMO!

Hi mate, and the cable output for the Pod Go? Amp Out or Main Out?
@alejandrolugo39838 күн бұрын
How can you use it as an FRFR?
@steviesavage8 күн бұрын
@@alejandrolugo3983 using a Power Amp in jack disables the Kats preamp entirely, so you only hear the sound of the modeller. Since the speaker was designed to be used with the Kats pseudo-modelling preamp, it is neutral, hence good for modellers. You can also use the Line Out jack to power your own personal monitor live, such as the Headrush.
@steviesavage8 күн бұрын
@@fernandodominguez2331 I use the Amp out to the Kat then the Line out to the PA or monitor. But it depends how you have them set up, Amp output can either be same as the Line output, or Post-Preamp.

Very interesting, but you are limiting your signal path to Pod Go > power amp only. Have you tried the 4CM method? OR use the PodGo as an effects box slave to the Katana? That would allow another effects pedal slave the to PodGo.

@TonyEmeryGuitar3 жыл бұрын
The POD GO has a headphone out. So I would recommend a good pair of open back headphones for totally silent playing. If you don't want headphones then the next thing is desk monitors. Either a single one or better...2 for stereo effects.

My humble opinion after a week using the pod go and the Katana, hooking it up all ways possible is that the Katana patches especially gains sound WAY BETTER than the entire POD GO ITSELF , why would I want to put something infornt of my amp that makes your amp it sound worse, and bypass that t awesome Brown sound and other effects we all love , for convenience? The pod only has 6 effects top the katana have a buch and can quickly down load many form tone studio. I am returning my pod go, Katans gains sound better anything eles I want I will just go thought the loop or use pedals reat video and great playing , Im just rambling tho :)

@TonyEmeryGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Correct. It's generally a no no to run an IR into a real speaker as then your running a simulated speaker/mic.... into another real speaker. But hey, if you prefer that sound then all good there really isn't any right or wrong with guitar tone only what you prefer.

Thanks Tony! I have a katana 50 with no effects loop. Wondering if effects loop would sound better than going into front of amp clean. Pod go is great through headphones
@TonyEmeryGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. The general consensus is yes, it does sound 'better'. This is because when you plug into the front end of your amp (preamp), it colours/alters the tone from the modeller. This is typically undesirable as you really want a 'pure' tone from the modeller. Going into an effects loop bypasses the amps preamp therefore leaving your tone uncoloured. It's a bummer the 50w doesn't have one.

You dont need the 100 If you have a Boss Katana 50 Mkii they have the newer feature of Power Amp in. This means you no longer need an effects loop, you plug your guitar into the Pod Go, The Pod Go's Amp out (or Main Out - Left/Mono) into the Boss Katana Mkii 50 Power amp in, and you're done the amp is completely a Full-range Powered Guitar Cabinet.
