Line 6 Vetta II 2 HD Head Review / Test ( in stereo )

Playing starts at 2:38 :) Here is a little update:
I got some questions about the Vetta so i'd like to add some infos.
The amp is of course also a great live amp! The feature set is amazing for live use the only thing that i did not like is a short delay when switching patches like a hicup ... other than that it is a amazing amp. Bumblefoot, Meshuggah and Nine Inch Nails kind of prooved that this amp can do so much and works great in every scenario. I just did not want to be too optimistic in the video, tubeamps are grea and new digital devices like the helix sound better. But the dual amping in stereo in one box as a head is still unique and that means you cando soooo much.
I still hope that one day a Vetta III (powered by helix) comes out maybe in a smaller case. I simply do not like racks and want a built in stereo poweramp that fits well to the helix ... i play also a hx stomp but yeah i heads and actual guitar speakers, i really really dislike FRFR speakers.

I have the Vetta 2 combo Steve Howe used with a lot of his sounds programmed in. Those, along with the factory presets, make this one of the coolest amps on the planet. I was always a tube amp snob, but this amp is simply amazing.

This amp was a game changer. Always wanted one. I'm a tube amp guy these days but I still got to find a vetta head!.. I remember the artist presets being spot on. Great video.. Nice playing!

This amp was around $3000, but you can find them used for 300-500. Great value if you like to play a wide range of cover music.

I play metal in B flat. For me this head is the ultimate metal amp! Because it's a digital amp it always sounds the same. I love it!

Absolutely!, same goes for the elevenrack btw ... real amps often get muddy with my 8 string but the vetta stays tight ...

I always loved it for clean patches or the tons of effects. You could really create some stellar patches with it. I understand why many don't like it though. It suffers from the plight of all solid state amps of that period in that, you can't get in that sweet spot between breakup and distortion. You could probably run your distorted patches through a tube preamp. It works well for death metal.

I love that amp and many of my heros used it live too, like meshuggah, bumblefoot and NIN ... i would totally buy it again even today but there are some things that are nerve wrecking

The original cabinets were horrible especially the 2x12s I know because I owned two of them lol. One day at a gig they failed on me for some unknown reason and I plugged in to a PA speaker and was blown away at how good it sounded compared lol

this amp has as all old digital amps lack of feel, but soundwise its sounds better then the most shit out these days. for metal its a must have if you ask me... if you record go for vetta.. it has incredible options as well , love my vetta 2, an i have most of the new stuff to compare with.

What's the last guitar at the end? That neck pickup has incredible clarity!!

Hey thanks ! It is a crafter sa. So the clarity comes from the built in piezo

It is a squier custom tele with unwaxed hornauer pickups :)

Could I use this head on a 2 by 12 Mesa boogie cab ? I mean is it safe to use ?

it depends, if it has two v30 speakers you have to be careful but with two ev speakers why not. :)

why are the lows so boomy? and was that a fender j5?

the amp and the cab have a lot of lowend, and i must admit i like lowend ( i like strong 100-120Hz on guitars not the parts below so much) so i simply set it up that way. That is easily fixable with the studio eq that is built in. No the Tele was a custom with Hornauer Nowaxx Pickups

I just picked up a vetta 1 combo for 175 bucks

holy moly! that is cheap AF !! Congrats man! BTW. even tough the vetta has speaker sims built in that are matched to the special designed speakers of line 6. i would get normal guitar speakers for the combo and turn the sim off, i got way better results doing it that way. My recommendations are the Celestion G12K 100 and the EV Black label, i would not go with brighter speaker on the vetta since it will gett fizzy pretty fast

@ ive got a line 6 4x12 i can run it through and i have bugera 4x12 to this amp is so loud its a hidden jem i,am getting a really heavy amon amarth tone thats really sick..

Can this be used with a bass?

i never used it with a bass but is has enough power, features and lowend that i bet you can find some good sounds for bass in there. Like Blending the clean pre and a rectifier. Some bassists use the rectifier as a bassamp in the studio so i gues the rectifier sim on there could be a good fit
