We all know fishing line stretches and we've all been told that mono has more stretch than any other line.... but does it? Today we put mono, flouro and braid to the test and see who out stretches who!

The floro surprised me too. I only run a couple of feet but i assumed no strech as that is what i was told

Yeah, same here. Even if it was less... I could see saying theres "none"... but it obviously stretched... and a LOT! I guess it being so brittle with bending is why people take extra care?

That's interesting for sure. Pull the line X amount of inches and see if it springs back or just remains the stretched length. I've always hear Mono will springs back and Flouro stretches and doesn't spring back.

Another fella did just that between the two. Mono sprung back much more. On 10 and 12 pound mono, it only grew by 1/8 to 1/2 an inch. The flourocarbon grew 1 and 1/2 inches and even more when repeated. The mono kept springing back.

Good video, i always wondered just how much mono streches, i dont use mono unless bass fishing and run braid with floro leader

Thanks! Yeah, I was curious too... and I got time on my hands while I wait for ice! I use mono for top water and that's about it. I really fell in love with flouro this year

Way to give er a tug! I flat line around Collingwood sometimes with 250-300 feet out, I wonder how much Stretch I would get before I break off on that much line!

Man it makes you wonder why pay extra for flouro? I’ve always been a flouro believer but outside of getting deeper quicker not sure there’s a point?

@@OrilliaFishing I hear people say that but I fish in water with consistent 15+ foot water clarity. Drop shot a lot, cousin uses 6 lb mono I use 7 lb Sunline sniper flouro, no noticeable difference is quantity or quality of fish.

This is a really great video, i had issues last year with my white fish hook set to bite ratio at the start of the ice fishing year but now im thinking the floro was my issue, i decided i would spool 25 to 30ft of floro leader on my braid so i could tie more often without having to add more leader line, past years i ran only 4 to 6ft of floro leader. After i got a bunch of tangles i decided to switch back to a shorter leader and didnt have issues setting the hook after that. I think the issue is also my flip hut roof is low and with all that strech and after snapping a rod hittting the flip over bar i was not driving the hook as hard for fear of breaking another rod, this along with the floro strech was proably the reason. Cant wait for safe in on simco but great video

I wonder how much the line digging in and tightening on the spool affected the results?

Hard to say. I would assume there would be the same thing on a rods reel too.
