My '07 F-150 Flare Side had a new Line-X in it when purchased in 2009, I love it and wanted to prevent damage to it. I took a "give me" used Chevrolet SB drop in a friend no longer needed after he bought a new truck, I used a "Sawzall" and trimmed the sides off, leaving just the vertical portion of fender well tubs and the front wall attached, it fit my truck's bed perfectly. I use two small straps to tiedowns to keep it in the bed, it's easy to slide out to wash up, and it protects my Line-X floor from engine blocks or heads or steel pieces. My Line-X looks brand new here in 2022, it shows NO signs of abrasion from the plastic drop in floor. I used Iron Armor from HF in my heavy 4x8 utility trailer with steel diamond plate floor, then cut another "give me" long bed pickup bed liner and trimmed it to 4 feet wide, leaving the front wall which I then heated along the top of the trailer's front rail with propane and bent it over the front rail, cooling it with water in steps.

I would suggest a rubber bed mat on top of the line x. Leave the sides exposed with the line x and have the rubber mat on the bottom for better functionality.

That's not a bad idea. How do the rubber mats do with moisture? I have not had one before so not sure how rubbery they are

I rhino liner my bed and then put the drop in bed liner in. Every 2 years pull it out and touch up as needed. It’ll literally last forever. I use the DIY brush on stuff from Home Depot.

In theory, this sounds awesome, drop in on top of spray on....any idea if the drop can rub through the spray on? Especially since they sand your paint to apply it...thanks!

Rust and moisture is not a big issue where I live - in the desert. You didn’t mention bed mats. That’s a fourth option.

How are the wheel wells holding up with the drop in on top of the lineX ? I was thinking of doing the same because my drop in has cutouts for a sleeping platform, but don’t want to ruin the lineX

Drop I bed liners can wear down your paint overtime. Hate me or not I use spray on and drop in.

I don't disagree with pal but know one talks about the elephant in the room and that is impact . The sprayin does nothing to protect the medal from impact the liner and the rug do. So both methods together are best. Sorry it cost more but you having both is great.

Agreed. Definitely happy to have the plastic in there to protect from impacts while the bedlining protects the bed from the rubbing of the liner

Actually Linex is VERY impact resistant. Some of the vehicles we had in Afghanistan had Linex sprayed both under the vehicle and on the floor to lessen blast damage

I bought a new 2017 Silverado and the bed is scratched and dented all to hell and truck has 22,000 miles on it. I get complimented how I use my truck. I laugh as people who don't want scratches or dents in their bed.

He didn't do a comparison with a Dualliner the bottom mat has these bumps thar keep air circulating and water from being trap also I seen another video showed linex stain from gasoline and he had spilled water with paint from paint brushes also stained, linex 500$ dualliner 399$ free shipping 30min to drop in and is more impact resistance than spray on and I have neither linex looks nice but I'm going with dualliner 500$ way to much for me

Is the bottom of the drop in soft or hard tho? Only problem with drop ins is they run off the paint and you'll have it start rusting underneath. If you pull it off once a year or so and touch it up with a rattle can you'll probably be ok tho.

Why? Lol I haul a lot and it keeps all the debris out of the crevices and cracks and it helps prevent dents. I want my truck to last as long as possible and this definitely is added protections. It's just too rough on bare paint.
