This Lingo is far better than the current version. In fact I had no idea that there was an 80s version. The 80s version has real tension and it does not drag on and on and on and on and...... Either cancel the current version or base it exactly on the original version for the 21st century.

I have a better suggestion, base it on the Dutch version which most Lingo fans know and love. Or the US one with Chuck Woolery, his version is close to that variation.

Great, I’m going to hum that theme song for the next few years.

This is great compared to the revival, which does start to drag after a while, not helped by ITV's obsession with hour-long gameshows. The bingo element really makes the programme and it is a great shame this was removed in favour of a dull crossword cryptic clue game.

The new one reinvented this one of the 80s is still better

Have you seen the American version with Chuck Woolery? That was good.

Don't remember this at all, though I was working during the daytime back then, we already had a bingo based gameshow back then, Bob's Full House with Bob Monkhouse..

Lovely to see Paul Daniels' son Martin, who also appeared on Game For a Laugh

how many of you watched this as a kid and thought the music was by Ottowan - then you saw the credits and realised no also this must be the only quiz show where the contestants get their names in the credits

Not the only gameshow for certain, the 80s run of the Price is Right usually credited the winner of the Showcase, likewise Contenders in Gladiators for at least a couple of series.

I saw the new Lingo yesterday - its shit they've taken out the bingo element so its just words words words - you need the bingo element in there to brake up the game, without it it gets boring after 10 minutes

I completely missed this back in the day. I only found it now by accident. As for the new version, someone should explain to the execs what a portmanteau is. Lingua and bingo make the word Lingo. Without the bingo element it shouldn't have the name Lingo.

Isn't Lingo a word in its own right?
@LogoMan77772 жыл бұрын
@@happyfat4620 Yes, it is a word in its own right. However, it was also a pun because it could be a portmanteau of "linguistic bingo".
