And Konstantiniye was the capital of the Ottoman empire. But if that girl mentioned about the Republic of Turkey, I can say that long time ago (98 years) there was two government and two capital of Turkey. Ankara government and İstanbul government. But then the İstanbul government fell. I was referring to that by saying "98 years ago that was İstanbul".

In Sweden we have anti patriotism in steed. I meet this girl, speaking perfect Swedish, asked here where she was from, she answered Mariehamn. I was confused, because i never heard of the place and in Sweden inland geography is like the most important thing... ... Then i found out there is a second country where they speak Swedish only, Unlike Finland where about 15% of the population is Swedish speaking... Mariehamn is the capital of Åland, that use top be a part of Sweden but was forced to succeed after Sweden lossed a war to Russia in 1850, then when Finland become independent Åland simply become autonomous, making it in effect a country that nobody ever have heard of. So Swedish schools just ignore the existence of the Sovern area. Worth saying is that Åland is a technical protectorate under Finland, often confusing people that its a part of Finland. Its very much not, hence, one can go there despite both Finland and Sweden being in the EU, to buy international tax free boos.

London is the capital of both England and the UK, as the UK is united under the british monarchy, which is located in London. What's kinda funny is that in some regards, England is less of a country than Scotland, Wales etc, because most of English politics goes under the UK system, while the other countries tend to try to self-govern outside of the UK system. You could argue that UK isn't a country exactly, but you have accepted the UK as a country in other videos quite often.

In my country the only people Ive ever met that couldnt name their own capital were the children in families during social programs I have participated to lift them from absolute misery. They didn't know Basic geography because they couldnt, even when they were eager to learn.
