Why is the PP suddenly an adverbial? I thought adverbials are adverbs? This is so confusing.

All adverbs are adverbials, but not all adverbials are adverbs. You should first know what is the function of an adverb. Only then you would understand that a PP (not every PP of course) can have an adverbial function in the sentence. In the example "She worked in the evening", the PP "in the evening" modifies the verb by answering the question "When does she work?", and, thus, is an adverbial.
